Angelica Turner’s life is in danger. If she wants to survive, she’ll have to turn to a man with violence in his eyes and death in his soul. A man she desires, yet desperately needs to resist if she doesn’t want her heart shattered again.

Hardened mercenary Colton Duchaine has wanted Angie since he first laid eyes on her, but he knows he’s the wrong kind of man for an innocent woman like her. His life is too dangerous, too unpredictable. He can never settle down.

But when someone wants Angie silenced, Colt will do whatever it takes to keep her alive. And when she’s safe, he’ll get out of her life for good.

Turns out that walking away is easier said than done. Angie is his—and Colt will stop at nothing to claim her for his own.

3.5 Heart Review by Ashley

I was thrilled to see that Lynn Raye Harris was taking me back to Annapolis to hang out with the team at BDI. And just like I knew it would, Black Out gave me a steady dose of attraction, danger, steam and mystery.

I liked Angie. Her critical mind. Her struggle to find purpose. A job that is fulfilling and meaningful. What she didn't want was the mystery that landed in her lap. It put her in the middle of a very dangerous situation with more questions than answers. And in the protective arms of Colt.

Holy French swoon Colt! He's patient and thoughtful. Strong and protective. Knows his was around a kitchen. And isn't afraid to put himself in harms way to keep others safe. I loved how the situation with Angie brought out a tenderness in him. Something only she managed to do. But even with their budding romance, evil was lurking.

As the pieces of the very complex puzzle started to fall into place, the danger kept mounting. And it was a race against time to get ahead of the threat knocking on Angie's door. My heart was pounding as the final showdown took place. I was nervous and unsure of how it was all going to pan out.

While I do like my romantic suspense with a bit more of an edge (ie more danger and intrigue) I can't complain too much...because Colt! He really is book boyfriend gold and Angie is his perfect match. Lynn Raye Harris totally got me with that ending...gah! I need Ian's book pronto!
