Joey
I wouldn’t say I ran away exactly—twenty-two is too old for that.
I’d call it self-preservation.
I have one objective: protect my heart from the boy next door who has no clue I’ve loved him my whole life, even with a front row seat to his revolving bedroom door.
My escape plan almost worked.
Except I left one thing behind.
Logan Carter hijacked my heart, and now it’s time to get it back. This time for good.

Logan
I wouldn’t say I’ve been lying this whole time—not about everything.
Not about how much I miss my best friend, and definitely not about how pissed I am that she left with hardly a goodbye.
She’s the last person I ever expected to ghost me, and her absence left a gaping hole in my chest.
When Joey Grayson steps off that bus, I know I’ll do anything to keep her home, and that means finding out the truth.
But I’m not sure how to tell her my truths when I’m living so many lies.

4 Heart Review by Ashley

This sweet, and tad bit angsty, friends-to-lovers romance is just what the doctor ordered. Add in Lex Martin's signature wit, Breathless gave me fun and longing in every chapter.

I adored Joey. How she did what she had to do keep herself sane. Protect her heart. But at some point you have to return home. And when she did, even though she thought she was, she wasn't ready to come face to face with Logan. Her best friend. Her secret crush.

Oh that Logan. Hard working. Dedicated to his family. Protecting the ones he loves. A playboy. A bit aloof. Especially when it came to Joey and his own feeling towards her. But it didn't take him long to see Joey as more. A woman. A woman he couldn't stop looking at. Thinking about. Wanting. And when these two finally get together, it was so worth it. Explosive. Dynamic. Hot.

But with all the balls Logan is juggling, it was only a matter of time before something slipped. And when it did, it was Joey who was caught in the crossfire. My heart ached for her all over again. Then my jaw dropped because I did not see that twist coming. At all. And that ending...the way Logan proved his love, put the 'woon' in swoon. Full of humor, heat and heart, Breathless proves that sometimes the best romances are steeped in friendship.
