Chasing The Dragon is the first installment of a two part series of deception and betrayal where nothing is as it seems. ***Note - Chasing The Dragon is the first book in a two-book duet and is a spin-off of T.K. Leigh's USA Today Best Selling Beautiful Mess series. It is not necessary to have read that series in order to read this duet, but it will contain a mild spoiler from the third book in the Beautiful Mess series, Gorgeous Chaos.*** Four Star Review by Ashley I knew going in that Chasing the Dragon was going to be part of a series and I wanted to wait until closer to the release of the next one because I just knew this was gonna throw me for a loop. And did it ever! Once again, T.K. Leigh wove and intricate tale of loss, fear, hope, danger and love. The prologue gripped me in a way I wasn't quite expecting and I just had to know what would become of the scared little girl whose world was just torn apart. I will admit that I didn't really like Mackenzie, Mack, from the start. But my admiration of her grew as she blossomed. Initially she is very structured and controlled by her schedule which she plans to the minute- there is no room for her to just let loose and have some fun. She's done that in the past and there is no room for it now. She does have her one vice- girls night with her two best friends, Jenna and Braydon. These two and their antics give the book some much needed lightness and showcased a softer side of Mack. Things were going really well for her too, all of her plans were on track until one Tyler Burnham works his way into her life. He is a man on a mission. Get on the girls good side, shake up her routine and let her lead him to his ultimate goal, her father. All was going according to plan but what Tyler wasn't expecting was for Mack to tilt his world in the process. I loved his patience with her. The care he had and the way he helped calm her fears. He knew what she needed and he gave it to her. He knew when to push and when to let the fire burn. Not surprisingly, there are some pretty strange things happening around Mack and Tyler feels this innate desire to protect her from the mayhem and sort it all out; it is what he does after all. However, as one question gets answered about five more surface in this tangled web of mystery. And through it all, there is this deep connection between Mack and Tyler that can't be denied. Mission be damned, their chemistry is off the charts and the feelings are real. But in one moment everything Tyler and Mack have built comes crashing down around them. AND that is where this one ends. GAH!!! T.K. Leigh you are the master of cliffhangers and I am so glad I waited to read this one- the wait would've really gotten to me. I absolutely can not wait to dive into the next installment of this series. About the Author T.K. Leigh, otherwise known as Tracy Leigh Kellam, is the USA Today Best Selling author of the Beautiful Mess series. Originally from New England, she now resides in sunny Southern California with her husband, dog and three cats, all of which she has rescued (including the husband). She always had a knack for writing, but mostly in the legal field. It wasn’t until recently that she decided to try her hand at creative writing and is now addicted to creating different characters and new and unique story lines in the Contemporary Romantic Suspense genre. When she’s not planted in front of her computer, writing away, she can be found running and training for her next marathon (of which she has run over fifteen fulls and far too many halfs to recall). Unlike Olivia, the main character in her Beautiful Mess series, she has yet to qualify for the Boston Marathon. www.facebook.com/tkleighauthor
