A sexy, cocky, Australian named Chance was the last person I expected to run into on my cross-country drive. When my car broke down, we made a deal. Next thing I knew, we were traveling together, spending sexually-tense nights in hotels and taking unplanned detours. My ordinary road trip turned into the adventure of a lifetime. It was all fun and games until things got intense. I wanted him, but Chance wouldn’t make a move. I thought he wanted me too, but something was holding him back. I wasn’t supposed to fall for the cocky bastard, especially when I knew we’d be going our separate ways. All good things must come to an end, right? Except our ending was one I didn’t see coming. Review by Ashley When I saw that Penelope Ward & Vi Keeland were teaming up, I may've let out a little squeak of joy. OK I totally let out a squeak or joy. And then that cover- hello gorgeous! Cocky Bastard had everything and I mean everything. There was humor, sexiness, a road trip, secrets and a goat! Yes a goat (but you'll just have to read to see what that is all about). I was pulled into the story right from the get go. The banter between Aubrey and Chance had me laughing and shaking my head at the same time. They were both very rooted in who they were but were admittedly lost when it came to life. Their situation is unique to say the least but it suited them well. Chance brought out a lighter side to Aubrey that was just itching to come out. In turn, Aubrey helped Chance to focus. And that one moment before the big, completely unexpected twist, left me swooning big time. I loved getting each characters POV. It really helped me connect to them and their emotions all the more. Especially Chance. Holy wow! The things that man had been through. My heart broke for him for what he went through doing what he had to do. I loved how he was relentless in his pursuit to win back the woman who changed his world. But what I liked more than that was that Aubrey didn't just give in when he came for her. She stayed true to herself even when it was tearing her apart. Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland's writing together was seamless. I couldn't tell where one stopped and the other took over. There was a great balance between the drama, steaminess and laughter. I absolutely adored Chance and Aubrey and together they were even better. I don't know what else I can say about Cocky Bastard except that you will not be disappointed at all if you pick this up.
