She was mine. Our love unquestioned. Our futures planned. But she didn't show. All that we had, all that we meant, and after all that was said, she just didn't show. That one act by her changed everything, but it especially changed me and from that moment on, there was no going back. No words of love, no whispered promises, just sex and drugs and rock and roll. No one gets a piece of Reed, but what they will get is the night of their life, the chance to let go, break their own rules and enjoy the best, the dirtiest, filthiest sex ever... Along with the other four people in my bed. I thought he loved me, I believed everything he said, every promise that he made but then, when I needed him more than I'd needed anyone in my life, when I was at my most vulnerable, he let me down. He chose to take a different path and leave me to pick up the pieces of my now broken life. I was changed forever and chose the easy option, letting others take charge of my destiny, until once again, I'm let down in the cruelest of ways. Dirty filthy sex. Love. Heartbreak. Betrayal. High emotion. And a bit more sex. Review by Amanda I am an avid fan of the incomparable Lesley Jones - and once again she does not disappoint. This book could make Romeo and Juliet seem like childs play, and just a warning to readers - you will have the WORST book hangover! Another amazing story from Lesley Jones. Conner and Nina (who he affectionately calls Meebs - after Nina Amoeba... adorbs, right??) are high school sweethearts. They have only ever loved each other. However, their different social standings are threatening to tear them apart. Nina comes from an affluent family - they are well respected in the community and they consider Conner to be from the wrong side of the tracks. As Conner and Nina find themselves alone they cling to one another, but one night changes everything forever - both are left in what feels like absolute abandonment. They are left with one conviction - never to love again. The story picks up years later - Conner is a member of one of the hottest rock bands, Shift. From one tour to the next, Conner has had his fair share of drugs, booze, and women. He lives a life of depravity with his fellow band mate, Jet and his manager, Lawson. They live the life of rock stars and are unapologetic for it all. However, Conner still has Nina burned on his heart and soul, and try as he might - he is never able to fully let go of her. Nina succesfully runs a hair salon and spa business. She is unhappily married, to a man that was forced on her by her family. She has tried her utmost to make her marriage work, but it is still failing. She is unhappy and still longs for Conner, although this is definitely a secret that she keeps close to her chest. Two life changing events happen in Conner and Nina's lives, sending them both spiralling out of control - in very different ways. Nina is left devastated and Conner is left broken hearted. Conner returns to the UK and succumbs to the numbing relief of alcohol. Nina follows a healthier path and leans heavily on her best friend and business partner to help her through her struggle. A performance in aid of raising funds for various charities is the catalyst that throws our two leading characters together - in a way that neither of them expected. Conner and Nina are reunited. This leads to a maelstrom of events where the two have to face the demons of the past and what happened to them. Will their love be enough? Will they be able to convince each other that they are meant to be together? Will they be able to forget their hurt of the past? OMG!!! This book - I have no words. It wrecked me. Lesley Jones is an artist with words, she paints all these beautiful colours - she draws you in with all the fine strokes and subtle textures and then she slams you with absolute gut wrenching and agonising details. There were parts of this book that left me absolutely gutted, and then there were parts that left me grinning like a fool. Lesley Jones also brings in an arsenal of amazing surprises that literally left me squealing. I cannot believe that she managed to keep certain aspects of this book a secret - but wow, am I pleased she did. This has probably been my favorite Lesley Jones book to date - the characters were fractured, broken and depraved. Their development throughout the story was amazing. The secondary characters were AMAZING!!! The story line was a dark and somber read, but I promise you, this is a book that you just CANNOT miss. Lesley Jones you are incredible, this book is beyond swoonworthy. I loved the intricacies you wove with your words, and I certainly have a book hangover after reading this epic tale of love. Meet Lesley Jones I was born and raised in a small working class town in Essex, just outside of East London. I am married with three sons and in 2006 we all moved to the other side of the world, settling on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula, about 50K outside of Melbourne, Australia. It's a whole new way of life for us down here, we are so lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the world.
I am currently a stay at home mum but in the past I have worked at Marks & Spencer, as a classroom assistant/teachers aid and have run my business. As well as writing, I love to read and have been known to get through four or five books a week. My other interests are watching my boys play football...The round ball version. I am happy to admit to being an addict of social media and I owe a lot to my Facebook and Twitter family in promoting my work. I am also rather partial to a glass... or bottle of wine, a nicely chilled Marlborough Sav Blanc being my favorite. Being a born and raised Essex girl, I will happily admit to be being a big fan of spray tans, Shellac and am regularly, waxed, tinted and sculpted, although I am more likely to be found in thongs/flipflops than a pair of white stilettos these days.
