She doesn't need a hero.
But she does need me.

Liv
I came to Sunnyville broken, battered, and bloody.
I was saved, rescued by an angel wearing a badge and from that point on, I wanted to be just like him.
Flash forward two years and I finally have my opportunity.
But then Topher Harding asks me out on a date.
He's sexy, he has dimples, and he's a cop.
One date turns into five turns into me thinking this guy might be my forever.
Unfortunately, things don't always go to plan.
This is my life and I refuse to let anyone, or anything stand in my way.
Especially a sexy, dimpled cop who thinks I need a hero.

Topher
From the second the new dispatcher walked into the station, I wanted her.
She's smart, quick thinking, and on a scale of one to ten, her body is a fifteen.
For the first time in my life, I want to stop adding notches to my bedpost and buy a new bed.
One I can share with Liv for the rest of my life.
After everything she has been through, I need to make sure nothing and no one can touch her again.
Then I find out she's been keeping a secret that I can't get over.
So, I let her walk out of my life.
Now she's back with a shiny new badge of her own.
And being the department's Field Training Officer, she's put under my wing.
She still doesn't need a hero.
But she does need me.
And I'll prove it to her.

3 Heart Review by Ashley

It is no secret I am a sucker for a man in uniform. Add being part of K. Bromberg's Everyday Heroes world into the mix and I knew Cop-Out was going to be my first read from Misty Walker. The opening alone had my heart in tatters and rooting for Liv.

Liv! She is hands down the best thing about this book. I loved how she grew into who she was meant to be. That she didn't let anyone stand in the way of her chasing her dream. Even Topher, the man she loved.

Now, Topher is a bit of a different story. I liked him until I didn't. I found his antics towards Liv when he learned what she wanted to do childish and unnecessary. He was straight up a grade-A jerk to Liv. Did I get his hesitation and fear for her becoming a cop, absolutely. Does that excuse his behavior, not at all.

Luckily for him, Liv is a better person than I would've been in that situation. Especially when all of his worst fears are brought to a head in a showdown at work gone wrong. Those few scenes had my pulse pounding and my eyes reading as fast as they could to see how it would all play out. Thankfully, that was the kick in the pants Topher needed to get out his own stubborn way. And the way Misty Walker ended Liv and Topher's back and forth romance left me with a more than satisfied smile on my face.

Misty Walker is fueled by coffee and motivated by the forceful voices in her head screaming to tell their story. If she's not reading or writing, she's spending time with her daughters, husband, and two dogs. But mostly she's reading or writing.
