All it took was one bad decision,
A need to numb the pain that threatened to tear me apart.
He was someone I trusted,
And he made a decision that would forever ruin me.
They used to be my best friends,
But after that night, I never wanted to see them again.
Now they hate me and will stop at nothing to watch me suffer.
But what do they know about suffering?
After what I’ve been through,
Everything they throw at me is child’s play.
One more year and I’ll be free of them,
Never having to be reminded of that fateful night.
A lot can happen in a year...

5 Heart Review by Lorena

This book is a dark, DARK bully RH that takes place in high school.

Kailey has gone through some trauma in her life that she just can't seem to forget. Due to this, she just closes off and stops talking to her best friends. She refuses to tell anyone about the horrifics of her life and would rather just live with it and deal with it the best she can.

Due to her shutting out her best friends - Brody, Zeke, Cooper and Caine, she gets bullied all the time in school along with their girlfriends. Kailey is at the point where she just doesn't care anymore and is just accepting their torture.

Brody has gotten all his boys together and they have conjured up a plan that would include Kailey and he has Cooper and Caine to start courting her first. Now, let's not forget that all these boys have been in love with Kailey but since she shut them all out, they all started hating her for her lack of actions with them.

But once Cooper gets her attention and starts sounding sincere to her, she is skeptical at first but little by little she starts letting him in and then along comes Caine, but Caine is more vocal and is not shy about letting Kailey know how he really feels about her at first, he is making sure she knows how much he hates her. But as time passes, he starts breaking down those walls and starts accepting that his love for Kailey out-weights his hate for her.

But Kailey's tormentors come back to town and sh*t starts to hit the fan. Now her guidance counselor is also involved in her life (romantically) and stuff is about to take a turn for the worst with her tormentors in town.

But her boys are here to protect her, or at least try to. From this point forward I sat at the edge of my seat and just couldn't put the kindle down.

Even though this book was very dark, I still found myself immersed in the characters, plot and the storyline, it all just had me completely hooked.

About the Author

C.A. Rene is married (but dreams of a RH of her own) with two kids (assholes) and lives in beautiful (cold most of the year) Toronto, Canada. To escape from life’s pressures (more assholes) she brings fingers to keyboard and taps out her imagination. Most of the stories floating in her head contain blood, angst, and dark dark love. Lover of all things dark. I love to read it, write it, own it, eat it, whatever it. My addictions include Coffee, books, and WINE, in that order.
