Two opposites in uncharted territory.

The government made Chloe Wilson an explosives expert, trained to take out a target with a precise, controlled hit. But there’s nothing controlled about her current situation—or the danger coming after her. When a good-looking stranger is sent to watch her back, she’s not impressed. This mission is personal, and it’s liable to get her killed. The former Valkyrie can’t afford any mistakes or attachments, but this time she has no choice, and soon her new partner proves his worth.

One explosive situation.

When former Pararescueman Heath Barrett gets a call from his best friend asking him to keep tabs on a woman in danger, he has no idea what he’s getting himself into. Far from a helpless civilian, Chloe holds him at knife point the first time they meet. She’s a deadly operative being hunted by lethal enemies and by the time he realizes the extent of the danger, it’s too late to walk away. Now they’re both targets, and he and Chloe must face the threat head on—and if they want to survive, they’ll have to do it together.

3.5 Heart Review by Ashley

I love a book where the women kick ass and take names. And Kaylea Cross has struck gold on that front with her Vengeance series. I had big eyes from the first daring page of Explosive Vengeance and didn't want to put it down.

I really like Chloe. Her strength, determination and smarts. How she went all out for the causes near and dear to her heart. Which brings her knife to groin with Heath. Oh Heath. Such a good guy. Loyal. Dedicated. A healer and a true romantic. He had no idea what he was getting into when he answered that call from Ty (he's in an earlier book of this series but you don't need to read that one to follow along here).

It was a whirlwind of Plotting, danger and trying to stay two steps ahead of the target. While working in a team was new for Chloe, she embraced being reunited with one of her former Program mates. When the plans started falling apart, Chloe started spiraling and trying to make up for everything on her own. I liked that Heath called her out for her antics. That while he was willing to take risks with her, he wouldn't let her put everyone and the big picture at risk.

With emotions high, bullets flying and more than one person with revenge on the mind, Explosive Vengeance was a non-stop thrill ride. While I wanted a hair more of the connection between Chloe and Heath, I was still fully engrossed in their romance and mission. AND! With a few little insights into some of the other Valkyries, I am looking forward to seeing where Kaylea Cross takes me next.
