And enemy, who just so happened to be her brother's best friend, Zeke. Oh that Zeke. I couldn't help but like the big guy (and there were times I really didn't want to like him). He was guarded with his truths. Protective of the things he held dear, friendships, family, football. And Riley, even if she didn't want it or him in her life. But he saw her. Got her in a way she didn't get herself sometimes and helped her when she got stuck in her head. For as much as they didn't like each other, they needed each other as they faced their new world. And somewhere in the middle of practices, film study, classes and pushing the limit just enough they found something neither was expecting...understanding. Something that felt like home. At least until the bottom dropped out. I could feel the tension radiating off the page. There were so many times I wanted to jump into the pages and yell at them to listen to what the other wasn't saying. To get out of their own stubborn ways and let themselves have this. Be happy instead of carrying around years of anger and guilt. Whew! Talk about intense. Fair Catch is angsty sports romance perfection. The hate, the desire, the longing in Riley and Zeke's friends to enemies to lovers romance made it impossible to put this down. And that ending...be still my ever swooning heart...it was good!
