And while this is toted as a standalone in an interconnected series, I do feel reading the first book would've been quite helpful. I liked Danny. He was so competent at his job but his bashfulness when it came to Lisa was really endearing. So was the way he was with his daughter. She was the center of his universe and he would do anything to protect her. Even if it meant going head to head with a cartel. I'm the first to admit I love danger and drama in my romance, but I feel like there was almost too much happening here. But amidst all the chaos, there was the budding love between Lisa and Danny that was tender and sexy and the perfect balance to all the intensity. And while things are settled for now, there are a few loose threads that I can't wait to see how Elle P. Golden closes as the series continues. About the Author Elle P.
