This is the story of complicated love and deep friendship, that will move you and hurt you, and then finally make you believe that love can prevail!

This story follows Lily, a 19 year old girl that grows up in the tiny town of Willow Creek.  She has been best friends with Cole McClain forever.  He is the yin to her yang, he understands absolutely everything about her.  Their love for each other is deep, but they are only friends.  The truth is Lily has loved Sloan, Cole's brother, since she was 13 years old.  He has always been indifferent to her - and almost rude to the point that Lily really did not feel that he wanted her around.

Cole and Lily swear an oath to one another - if by the time they finish high school neither of them have "popped their cherries" they will lose them with one another.  Cole's future is bright - he is headed to a school several hours away and destined to become a lawyer.  He doesn't want to arrive at College and be inexperienced, and the deal is struck.

Of course things don't run smoothly and Lily discovers that their one night together has resulted in a baby.  With nowhere else to turn she runs to Sloan and begs him to take her to see Cole.  Sloan agrees and they head off to find Cole.  When they get to him, they discover Cole is immersed in College life and has met someone that he absolutely adores.

Lily changes her mind about telling Cole when she sees how happy he is, and although it is against Sloan's better judgement he agrees and the two leave together.  Upon their return home Sloan tries to convince Lily to keep the baby, however, Lily is determined to see her baby have a better life and wants to give him/her up for adoption.

Cole sets out to convince her that he is capable of raising a child, and he wants her to be involved.  He starts by doing repairs on her family home, making it safer and slowly allows her to see exactly what she means to him.  The towns people soon learn she is pregnant and after initial disbelief, finally become accustomed to the fact that Lily is having Sloan's baby.

I don't want to give too much away with regards to the rest of the story, but what happens next is both beautiful and heart breaking.  Definitely well worth the read.

The book is very well written and there are parts that will have you sighing in complete bliss and other parts that will leave your poor little broken heart shattered.

Sloan is the epitome of an alpha male.  He is rugged, hard working, straight forward and of course GORGEOUS!  He is everything you never dreamed you could ever want.

Lily is the epitome of a soft spoken, soft hearted young lady.  I really loved her fragility and the way she was written.  The internal monologue that we read on both her and Sloan's behalf really makes your heart melt.  I loved it.

I am giving this book 4 stars, this is the first time I have ever read this author's books, but I am hooked!  Although the epilogue does give us closure as to what happens - I am really hoping that the author will give us Cole's story, I think it is one that needs to be told!
