First, he saved me.

I lived because he was a hero.

And then he was gone.

Uprooted by the fire that destroyed our home, my family moved away and I never saw David Andrews again.

Then, he found me.

Eighteen years later, he rescued me again – in much simpler terms, of course. By loving me, by giving me the fairy tale I’d always hoped for, he provided me with the perfect life.

Now, he needs to be saved.
It’s my turn to be strong, to be brave, to be valiant.

When flames threaten to turn us to ashes, it’s up to me to pull us From the Wreckage

4.5 Star Review by Ashley

I have been trying to write this review for days! My heart is so full after reading From the Wreckage. The words full circle have never had a more relevant book to attach themselves to. Melissa Collins proved, once again, that she is a master of the unexpected. I want to commend her braveness and boldness for taking on this story. There were a few scenes that were hard to read but they only connected me to the story more. The opening sequence alone had my heart pounding and breaking.

I really liked David and Grace as individuals. You can't help but like and root for them. But together, together, they were so much more. They were both givers and had a depth to them that just drew you in. When fate intervenes and brings them together one night it was as if the clouds parted and the birds came out to sing. There was this instant connection between them that only grew as they spent more and more time together. David, sweet, sexy and just a down right good guy. He is all man, willing to get his hands dirty, take care of those he loves and to lay down his life for others. I really enjoyed the relationship he had with his best friend Ian and his parents. His interactions with his mom and dad endeared him to me all the more. What I loved the most about him though was how he brought Grace out of her shell. His tireless patience and understanding helped to ease her very real fears. Grace's self-esteem blossomed right along with her career with David's encouragement. I loved watching her interact with her students. How she took age old words and made them relevant to today's world. I loved the ease that they had with each other- their love was flirty, steamy and light until the unexpected happened.

I mean just wow. I wasn't expecting or ready for that at all. My heart was in my throat for the rest of the book. Fair warning, it was hard to read and had me crying my eyes out (for more than one reason). Everyone's life was changed in that heartbreaking moment. I was absolutely gutted and left wondering how are they going to put the pieces back together yet again? I fell head over feet for Grace here in the days/weeks/months following the tragedy. Her quiet resolve and determination to not let this destroy her...Have your tissues ready- that is all I'm going to say.

A big kudos to Melissa Collins for writing this book and handling the heavy situation with the grace and delicacy it warranted. There was an incredible balance between the humor, steaminess, fear, heartache and hope. From the Wreckage is an extremely powerful and thought provoking tale of love and loss. It left me breathless and with a heart full to overflowing. And please, no matter what, make sure you read the authors note at the end- such a wonderful and touching tribute.

About the Author

Picture
Melissa Collins has always been a book worm. Studying Literature in college ensured that her nose was always stuck in a book. She followed her passion for reading to the most logical career choice: English teacher. Her hope was to share her passion for reading and the escapism of books to her students. Having spent more than a decade in front of a classroom, she can easily say that it’s been a dream.

Her passion for writing didn’t start until more recently. When she was home on maternity leave in early 2012, she read her first romance novel and her head filled with the passion, angst and laughter of the characters who she read about it. It wasn’t long before characters of her own took shape in her mind. Their lives took over Melissa’s brain and The Love Series was born.
