Second grade teacher, Mia Delaney, isn’t looking for love. In fact, she isn’t looking for anything at all because life hasn’t been fair. Everything—the idea of love, her hopes and dreams—was ripped away in a single night.
Arrogant yet sexy Adam Lawson makes the move to a small town in an attempt to escape life in the city. Here he hopes to provide a fresh start for those he loves and protects with a vow to never let anyone get close enough to hurt them again.

A chance encounter with Miss Delaney begins a relentless pursuit that has Adam breaking his own rules when he makes an offer she simply can’t refuse. Despite her internal struggles, Mia knows there’s no denying the attraction between them.
But when acquaintances become friends and friends become enemies, Adam’s need to protect those around him becomes even more crucial. Will the tangled web of lies and betrayal combined with past insecurities become too much for them to handle?

Four Star Review by Ashley

Overall, Giving in to You was an enjoyable read. There were things that I really liked and a few things that left me scratching my head. L.M. Carr's writing was thoughtful and well paced. It kept me invested in the story and rooting for the main characters. All the while seeking answers to the mystery surrounding them.

I really liked Mia. A lot. She is sassy and giving and has that touch of vulnerability that every good leading lady needs to make them relateable. My heart went out to her. She has suffered much loss and pain in her life but it hasn't deterred her zest for life and love. Running and her job are her outlet until one Adam Lawson stumbles into her life. Oh that Adam he is a lot of things, tall, broody, powerful, gorgeous and very confident. But my favorite thing about him was his unconditional love and devotion to his kids, Luke and Maddie. His interactions with them showed a softer side to his personality and gave me a glimpse into who he really was- as opposed to how he showed himself to the rest of the world.

I LOVED that Mia didn't buy into what Adam was trying to sell her. Her past experiences in love have left her wary and she isn't willing to settle for less than she deserves. Thankfully, Adam is relentless in his pursuit. I loved that no matter how or why Mia turned him down he just wouldn't take no for an answer. He wanted her and he was gonna get her. Of course, Mia eventually gives in and holy hot! Those two have chemistry is spades. What neither one was expecting was how quickly and deeply their relationship grew. I liked the ease between them and how quickly Luke and Maddie fell for Mia too. But not everyone is happy about it, mainly Gina, Mia's ex best friend.

That woman is a piece of work and then some. I just know, deep down, her and her brother are up to no good. The ending was actually really sweet. I felt the warmth of it all. But there is still so much unknown about what happened in the past and what is going to happen in the future. I know there is another book and I can't wait to see what L.M. Carr has up her sleeve next for Mia and Adam.

About the Author

Picture
L.M. Carr, author of The Giving Trilogy, is a wife, a mom, an educator, a reader and a writer who lives in central Connecticut with her family and two dogs. When she's not sitting at her computer writing, she loves to read or spend time with family and friends.

The idea for the trilogy formed in the summer of 2013 and wouldn't leave her alone, until she picked up a pen and jotted the thoughts down. Before long, words flowed as the story began to unravel.

L.M. Carr is a lover of "Happily Ever Afters" because the world is filled with enough sadness. Reading is an escape in which anything is possible. But like in reality, stories sometimes take you on a journey through Hell before you can reach Heaven.
