![]() Our love was like a lightning bolt. A pain in the chest that I couldn’t forget. Nina Anderson ruined me for all other women, launching into my world and anchoring herself to my core. She ran—she always ran. Now she’s back, holding the tattered pieces of my soul in her fingertips and wanting more than I’m willing to give. I don’t want her. I don’t trust her. But I need her. Our love is toxic, our words lethal, our bond—unbreakable. But while we toe the line blindly, we both miss the demons we unveil with our light. Demons that threaten to bring me to my knees. Grand Love is book two of The Promise Duet. It is a Billionaire Contemporary Romance and contains themes suited to mature readers. This book is part of a Duet and is not a standalone. 4.5 Heart Review by Lorena Oh man J.C. Hawke delivered one heck of a duet with Mason and Nina's story. These two characters definitely had me wanting to pull my hair out at times with their constant back and forth. I get why Nina felt the way she did and why she didn't trust Mason, but she never gave him the benefit of the doubt and/or ever allowed him to explain himself to her. Every chance she got, she would run until Mason had had enough of her running. Now the tables were turned and he couldn't trust Nina. After Nina gave birth to their son, they pretty much stayed away from one another, avoiding all sort of communication with each other. They preferred to go through their friends and that was just not right. She also had this thing where she liked going against what he wanted her to do and that annoyed the ever living life out of me. I wanted to jump into the book and slap some sense into her. I loved Mason, his alpha tendencies and his never ending obsession to keep Nina safe, even though she always did like to push his buttons. But she finally relented and realized that her life without Mason was just not the life she wanted. She realized that her love for him was stronger and it was worth her giving him a chance and trying to stop running away every time she felt like things were getting difficult. I also loved all the secondary characters in this book and I absolutely CANNOT wait to read Ellis and Lucy's story. They certainly have this secret thing going and now I need to know what the heck is going on with them. Overall, I loved the push and pull between Mason and Nina and how their love reignited in this book. About the Author JC Hawke is an author of contemporary romance.
