**THIS BOOK IS A STANDALONE WITHIN THE SERIES. READING THE OTHER BOOKS IN THE SERIES IS NOT NECESSARY BEFORE READING THIS NOVEL.** I was a Master. To understand me, you must understand my past. My father was a Master. My mother his Courtesan. I was raised in a business that trained women to become whores for the men that owned them. I was taught to train with a strict hand...but to seduce with a kind heart. Although my mother was one of those golden whores, the women broken and rebuilt to become everything their owner could desire, my mother - in her wisdom and beauty - trapped the heart of her Master. Through her perseverance, she never let the man go. Naturally, I followed in his footsteps, not once finding love, but almost gaining a son. My heart was destroyed on a clear summer day when my child was stripped from my hands. Redemption for my crimes was lost, and loneliness like a man should never know was gained. Until I found Seraphina... She thought she could deny me. She thought she could choose her fate or determine the course her life would run. She thought she would never love another because she couldn't love herself. With a shattered heart and rebellious mind, she believed her life was broken. She chose death as an avenue to escape the life she was given, and she believed there was nobody who could stand in her way. As her Master, it was my duty to show her... ...that all her beliefs were wrong. review by BrittanyI respected him and I feared him. He terrified me, yet made me wonder about him at the same time. An enigmatic soul wrapped in a polished package, his power was tied down with a pretty red bow. Her Master’s Redemption follows the story of Seraphina, a woman desperate to find relief from the nightmare that she lives every day. She was inches away from finding the relief when Anthony found her and saved her from ending her life. Anthony believed he could save me, that he could reshape me into what I should have always been. It was too bad for him that I was already dead, that my soul had been torn from my body long before he ever found me. Just like the other books in the Her Master’s series, Anthony is a Master in The Society and is determined to train Sera to become the perfect courtesan, except there’s one problem. Master Aiden, from Her Master’s Courtesan, had actually trained Sera as his first ever courtesan, and the rules of The Society state that he’s still her Master, and Anthony cannot touch her without his permission. “A monster tortures, Seraphina, but a Master commands. You’ll learn the difference soon enough.” Anthony finds himself falling in love with Sera, but Aiden seems to be losing himself in madness. He has no choice but to let Aiden do what he wishes with Sera, but will there be a limit to the torture that Anthony has to watch Sera endure? I love Lily White. Her Master’s Courtesan was the first book I read by her and I loved the darkness. With each and every book of hers that I read, I find myself unable to sleep as I turn page after page and get lost in the battle of wills between courtesan and Master. I really enjoyed this book, however, I feel that Lily rushed the connection between Sera and Anthony. They were very passionate about each other, which was very well written, but I personally feel that she did not spend enough time having them fall for each other. I just felt it was too fast. Other than that, the darkness in this book is spot on. I know it sounds weird, but dark romance is my favorite genre, and Lily is one of my favorite authors in this genre. Lily White is a very twisted individual, but I mean that in a good way. She has what it takes to write a suspenseful book and make it twisted in all the good, evil ways. For me, this book was four stars, due to the fact I felt the connection between the two main characters was rushed. It was still a superb book, and can be read as a standalone. Other characters from previous novels in this series are mentioned, but you don’t need any information from previous books for this novel to make sense to you. Congrats, Lily, on another superb book. I waited so long for this book and it did not disappoint!
