“I'm done hurting her. She's been hurt enough. It's time I set her free...” “I'm done hurting her. She's been hurt enough. It's time I set her free...” Once upon a time, I wished to go home and forget. Now, I’m strong and ready to fight. Seduced and claimed, Elder no longer just demands my voice, he commands me to be a thief like him. I refuse. But he offers me things I shouldn’t want, favours I should run from. In return for his protection, I’m ordered to steal enough pennies and dollars to buy back my freedom. Only, we both aren’t prepared for how he changes me, evolves me. And now it’s my turn to learn about him... Review by Brittany"We were fated for disaster before we'd even begun." Elder finally earns Pim's trust and she finally gives him her voice. Elder also finds himself struggling with Pim wanting to pursue a sexual relationship with him. He doesn't want to hurt her. He doesn't want to be anything like Master A. But he wants her. He wants her mind, but now, he wants her body more. "I locked my eyes on his handsomeness, let his dark beauty steal my breath, and fell into a fantasy where a raven-haired thief inked with dragon scales dragged me writing and gasping from my awful history." He pushes her away, but she always comes back to him. She wants to learn every little thing about him, especially after learning about his past, and how his mother no longer has any love for her child. Elder now wants Pim to buy her freedom back. She must learn to steal, just as he did when he was a child, and pay him to let her go. "She might have just stolen a book, but to me...to me, she'd just stolen my heart." With every step forward, there's ten steps back...Will Pim and Elder be able to survive as their relationship soars to a new level? This book... All I can say, at the end, I was in tears! I did not think I would be able to survive it. It's been so long since I felt that angst overload, that my anxiety was on high, and my heart just could not handle it. When Pepper mentioned Jethro Hawk and Hawksridge Hall, which is from her Indebted series, I screamed in happiness! I love it when authors do crossovers and I was just so happy, because I finished that series right before I started this one. This book is very intense. You're rooting for Pim and Elder and want them together, but they're pushing and pulling and nothing seems to come easy for them. You know they're in love, but you also find out why Elder is so against wanting to be with Pim physically, and it all makes sense, but to you, as a reader, all you want is to jump into the book and push them together and say "kiss!" Once again, five stars from me!
