Bookstore owner Kerry Emerson finally seems to be back in control of her life. Her failure of a marriage firmly in her rearview mirror and her recent business expansion a success, she is in charge of her own future. One that is looking better than ever. The sight of the tall man, with the familiar salt ahttps://amzn.to/2vYWzTBnd pepper goatee pushing open the door of her store, sets her hair on end. He doesn’t exactly bring good memories. FBI Special Agent in Charge, Damian Gomez, is just looking for a decent cup of coffee when he walks into the small store offering books and brew. The pretty, feisty woman behind the counter is an unexpected surprise. Not at all unpleasant, especially since her finger that used to hold a wedding ring is now bare. Her wild hair, boho style and silvery grey eyes suddenly hold a lot of promise. But when his office is pulled into an international investigation into the trafficking of rare books and manuscripts, the straight-laced SAC realizes he has to keep his distance from the woman who might well be involved. Easier said than done, since fate seems determined to throw them together. 4 Star Review by Ashley Whew! What a ride my first read from Freya Barker was! That opening just grabbed me and as things continued to unfold for Kerry and Damian I was completely glued to my kindle. I have to say that one of my favorite things about Keeping 6 was that Damian and Kerry were older (not old) and had experienced a good handful of life. I liked Kerry a lot. Her bravery and boldness. Her kindness and generosity. How she bounced back from the dramatics that she found herself in the middle of and was living her dream. But when some shady dealings get her caught up in the crossfire, it brings Damian into her orbit. While there was no denying the attraction, Kerry wanted nothing to do with his brood. But Damian saw something in her, felt something that made him question the rules he had carefully built his life on. As the danger surrounding Kerry escalates Damian knows the only way to keep her safe is to keep her close. Something he didn't mind one bit. With twists around every turn and characters that were as complex as they were charming, Keeping 6 was a delight to read. Both Kerry and Damian were flawed but found their fix in each other. Their journey was sexy, dangerous and oh so satisfying. I'm very much looking forward to more of this series.
