Dante didn’t set out to deceive. His favor for a pal in prison got him this farmhand job, and Jen needs help guarding more than her blueberries. Someone’s set on hurting her, and he’ll make damn sure they don’t. She can’t know who sent him or why he’s handier with a handgun than a hoe. But none of that matters more than keeping Jen safe. To save the girl, he’ll have to pair old skills with new. A princess tea party and an old-fashioned gunfight? Why not. Grape stomping and grenades? Sign him up. But as the enemy closes in, there’s one skill Dante finds he doesn’t have: The strength to walk away when the job is done. 3 Heart Review by Ashley If you're like me you've been itching to see what Tawna Fenske had in store for the team after it was left scrambling from their last mission. While it isn't necessary to read Killer Looks, the series prequel, I suggest you do as it gives some background on the characters you'll meet here. I liked Dante. A soldier through and through. Loyal, hard working, smart. Honorable. Doing a favor for a friend when he ended up at the Vineyard to check on Jen. I adored this woman. Strong willed and a bit over her head trying to get out of the mess she found herself in thanks to her jerk of an ex. Dante wasn't counting on the instant pull he felt towards his friend's sister. He tried to stay away, he really did but a series of supposed mishaps and accidents brought out all of his protective instincts and his need to keep her close, to make her his. I have to say with a title like Killer Instincts, I was expecting a bit more of the danger and suspense element. However, I can honestly say that I did not see the twist of who was behind everything until it was revealed. Jen and Dante's opposites attract romance with a touch of the forbidden was fast paced and laced with some steam. I enjoyed the other guys of the team, Matteo and Sebastian, showing up to play a part in how things unfolded. And I am looking forward to seeing where this series goes next!
