Homeless. Hungry. Desperate.

Doe has no memories of who she is or where she comes from.

A notorious career criminal just released from prison, King is someone you don’t want to cross unless you’re prepared to pay him back in blood, sweat, sex or a combination of all three.

King’s future hangs in the balance. Doe’s is written in her past. When they come crashing together, they will have to learn that sometimes in order to hold on, you have to first let go.

King is the first book in a two part series. Tyrant is the name of the second book due out August 2015.

Review by Ashley

WOW! My mind has officially been blown. I had heard nothing but great things about both this book and author so I decided to go for it. I was instantly hooked on King. T.M. Frazier's writing was spellbinding and kept me reading until there was nothing left to be read. But I wanted and needed more of the story!

This is not your traditional good girl meets bad boy and they fall for each other. Oh no King is dark and gritty and twisted at every turn. I loved Doe aka Pup. Yes she was lost and struggling with figuring it all out but she didn't let that stop her from being her. She was brave and sassy while still maintaining an air of innocence and vulnerability. Lucky for her she stumbled upon King and not someone else that fateful night. Oh King. He is something else. Freshly out of the slammer, he is plotting on how to get his life back to where he wants it to be. He has plans but has to lay the ground work first. And that means keeping things going with his business. When Doe stumbles into his room he is stunned and captivated by her. He doesn't know what it is about her but there is something in her that just calls to him.

I loved that he didn't know which way is up with her. And while he struggled to figure out her place in his life and plans, he knew that she was his. And Doe, as much as she is drawn to King does her best to push him away, protect herself, the "other" her from a mistake that she doesn't know she could be making. The sexual tension was off the charts. It took a good chunk of the book for them to finally get together but when they did it was HOT! I loved the progression of their relationship. It wasn't all sunshine and flowers. There was also fear, danger and pain but also an underlying sweetness to it all. King, and in turn his band of brothers, would never do anything to hurt her. But that doesn't mean that others wouldn't. I really liked seeing King and Doe interact with the secondary characters in this book, Preppy and Bear. Those men brought some much needed lightness and humor to this intense read. My heart was seriously pumping for most of this book until it broke.

The chapter that changed everything and the few after it gutted me. But it was a necessary evil to push things forward. And when it really hits the fan, King makes a deal, doing what he thinks is best for all involved. Turns out it wasn't quite what he was expecting and the ramifications were going to be major. AND that is where the story ends. WOW! What a cliffhanger Thank goodness I knew it was going to be a shocking end before I went in! I absolutely can not wait to see where things go from here for Doe and King.

About T.M. Frazier

Picture
T.M. Frazier resides in sunny Southwest Florida with her husband and baby girl.

In the third grade she wrote her very first story about a lost hamster. It earned rave reviews from both her teacher and her parents although her spelling could have (and could still) use some help.

It only took her twenty years to start the next book.

The Dark Light of Day was her debut novel.

She LOVES talking books with her readers.
