Kelly Kavanagh was Liam’s happily ever after, his loyal princess. A lifeline to something better than any high school dropout could ever hope for…until the day she left to pursue a dream that didn’t include him and slowly his kingdom crumbled to the ground.

Liam O’Connell was the sun to Kelly’s everlasting moon, her painted prince. A strong and devoted soul to fight the war she was slowly losing against herself…until his promises had become lies and her dream was the only way she would ever survive.

They have more than just miles and time between them now. The twin fortresses they’ve built around their hearts are next to impossible to scale. But, when two parallel fates collide in life and in death, will the impact be powerful enough to break down their self-imposed walls?

Every love story starts with Once Upon a Time, but in real life there are no fairytale endings, and the prince who rescues you...will never wear a crown.

4.5 Star Review by Ashley

Where have I been that Kingdom is my first book by A.M. Johnson? SERIOUSLY!! I absolutely devoured Kelly and Liam's angsty story. My chest ached through most of this book but I wouldn't change a moment of it.

Liam and Kelly's past was dictating their present but they wanted a new future for themselves. They thought they had found their answer in each other. But life happened. It changed them. Changed their wants and dreams. They both thought they had moved on, even believed it for a while. And then life happened again- there was no hiding anymore.

What a whirlwind. I liked that this book spanned a good amount of time. It really let me feel everything Liam and Kelly were. Gah! There was so much hurt and pain and resentment that I wasn't quite sure how they would dig their way out of it. But somehow, someway, they channeled their pain. Turned it into purpose and passion. Used it to make new plans and chase new dreams.

There was SO much good in this book. Light. Dark. Dreams. Loss. Fear. Duty. Family. Loyalty. Hope. Sacrifice. Redemption. Love. A.M. Johnson tore me to shreds and built me back up ten fold. Kelly and Liam's journey was real, and painful and uniquely theirs. I am so going back and reading the first book in this series and will be waiting (maybe not so patiently) for the next.
