She didn't think it could ever happen again. Love that is. And it definitely shouldn't be happening with him. Anna Kulis has lost her husband. Their love was a perfect kind of love; a once in a lifetime experience. She never intended to fall for anyone again. Never expected to have this attraction stirring inside her. And she never thought her emotions would run wild for the one man she shouldn't be attracted to - her late husband's best friend. Mason Becker has a secret. As a renowned ladies' man, he's been in love with his best friend's wife for twenty-five years. After his friend's untimely death, and a period of grief, Mason finds himself in a compromising position with the one woman he didn't think he'd ever have. And that night leads to complications - namely, a desire for more. Letting go can be one of the hardest tasks for the heart. Opening up to a second chance at love can be even harder. 4 Heart Review by Ashley L.B. Dunbar drop kicked me right in the gut with this trip to Lakeside Cottage. Letting Go at 40 is the one I've been waiting for, Anna's story. She was at the center of it all yet somehow always in the background. I loved that her story overlaps the events of the other books too (yes it makes more sense if you've read those books but you don't have to). I absolutely loved the way Anna was written. Grieving. Struggling. Lonely. Putting on a brave face for everyone around her (especially her kids). But Mason saw behind the half smiles and anger. He heard the tears and all the things that weren't being said. He noticed. He noticed everything about the woman he'd been in love with for half his life. Too bad she didn't feel the same... I won't lie, it took a bit for me to warm up to Mason. The playboy of the group. The floundering father. But what couldn't be denied was how much he cared for those he loved. It showed in his actions. In his thoughts and words, in all the small things he did and didn't do to put others first. And no one came before Anna. Even when his own peace of mind and heart hurt because of it. My chest ached and soared in equal measure as the guilt and pain slowly eased out of their souls and they found solace and peace and comfort in one another. Anna and Mason's slow burn, friends to lovers romances checked all the boxes. It was sexy and emotional and proof that love is always the answer. About the Author L.B.
