Captain Dorian Rae is a wounded soul who gets his greatest pleasures from being in the great outdoors and soaring the skies. When he has a life-changing encounter with a beauty on Washington State’s High Steel Bridge, he never anticipates that one meeting would have an enduring effect on him and change their worlds forever. But fate seems determined to throw them together when she repeatedly shows up not only in his dreams but also in reality, and in his past when he finds out that she played a role in the death of his best friend. When a seemingly impossible friendship develops between the two, the lines between friendship and romantic relationship become blurred and Dorian’s efforts to stay out of a relationship—especially with a woman with such a tattered past―comes into question. While her past catches up with their present, and disapproving family and friends enter the mix, the already deep-seated conflict that at first kept these two people apart, now threatens to break them up forever. Love On High Steel Bridge will take you through high altitudes and to some devastating lows. If you like suspense, steamy love scenes and unexpected plot twists, come with Captain Rae as he flies the skies on this riveting journey. 4 Star Review by Ashley Rebecca Rohman is one of those authors that I will read blind and that is exactly what I did with Love on High Steel Bridge. Well color me surprised to see that it featured a character from one of her earlier titles that I wasn't a fan of. At all. Nevertheless, that opening sequence sucked me right in and had me flying through the pages. Robin had made a lot of mistakes. Mistakes that cost a lot of people a world of hurt. But she suffered too. There wasn't a day that passed where she didn't hold on to the guilt of her choices and their consequences. Which is how she came to meet Dorian. It was quite the unconventional first run-in. There was something about Dorian that just drew me in. Yes, he was charismatic and handsome and successful but I think it was his kindness that kept me rooting for him. Dorian fell fast and hard for Robin. I loved how he accepted her for who she was and who she wasn't. How he helped her embrace and accept that her flaws and mistakes didn't define her. His compassion baffled her and rattled some other relationships he had in his life. And while she was slowly letting her walls down and guilt go, there was a budding danger that they just couldn't pinpoint. The intensity was building gradually throughout but that final chunk of this book was high octane. And a little gory but not overly so. My heart was pumping and I was reading as fast as I could to see what would happen and who was behind everything. I had my theories, but as usual I was wrong. The most shining moment was how Robin stepped up and faced her past and the danger threatening her future in one swoop. I didn't think it could be done but Rebecca Rohman proved me wrong by redeeming Robin. Full of fear, guilt, anger, resentment, hope, resilience, forgiveness, romance and grace, Love on High Steel Bridge pulled me through just about every emotion. Robin's journey into the next phase of her life was hard fought but it made her triumph all the sweeter.
