I lent my heart to the bad boy, and he did exactly what I expected he would. He broke it. And the guy I should have been with—he’s still here. He tries to take my mind off everything I’ve lost while showing me what I could have. I’m ready for a new start, to fall in love again … to do what I should have done in the first place. Everything seems perfect. Then the past comes walking back in. I thought I was over him, but one look and I know that’s not true. We went through too much together for those feelings to completely fade away. When my past and present collide, how am I supposed to choose? They both love me, and I love them. A heart will be broken … and it could be mine. Review by Lorena First I want to start off by saying that I had no idea this book was part of a series and even though it was, once I started reading it I didn't feel lost. I gathered right away that this was a love triangle. I read in Goodreads that women were rooting for Blake and I was drawn to find out why before I started reading the book. I don't know what really happened in Lies Unspoken but it seemed to me like Pierce would go over and beyond for this woman. I get it that women loved Blake and whatever it was that he did, these women were able to forgive and so did Lila but I was rooting for Pierce because he had a heart of gold and who doesn't want a man that goes out of their way for them??? A wealthy and handsome man who was over the moon in love with Lila and would go over and beyond to make her happy. But it seemed like Lila was stuck on Blake and even though he left her in Lies Unspoken and she vowed she was going to move on and was willing to give Pierce a chance, but Blake comes tumbling back into her life....so what is Lila going to do? Is she going to go for safe and secure with Pierce or is she going to chance it with Blake? The question is -- can Blake commit and get serious with Lila without having his past or his demons come between them? He ran once before, what guarantees that he won't do it again! Can Lila trust Blake to not run every time something heavy falls upon them? Is Lila willing to say "screw it" and just go for the safe and happy and that's Pierce? She seems to have strong feelings for both of them, but the real question is: Which one has really ingrained themselves in her heart the heaviest? You will have to read it in order to find out what exactly happens with Lila, Blake and Pierce. I'm glad there was a happy ending to this story because no matter what we all deserve a second chance. Lisa DeJong did such a phenomenal job with this story. Although I could have found myself lost and I'm not going to lie, at times I wish I had read the first book first just to know exactly why Blake left and so forth, but regardless, I was drawn to this book and couldn't find myself putting my device down. I continued on until I finished this book in one sitting. I am glad that I did because once I did, I went in to read the reviews of Lies Unspoken and seen how well that book was praised and even though I haven't read it, I might just have to say that I agree because the writing was flawless in this book so I'm sure it was just as good in the first book and the characters just felt real. As much as Lila was hurting, she seemed to be a pretty strong heroine and I loved that! I'd love to find out what happens next? Who's book are we going to get next???? total 4.5 star for this book!! About the Author Lisa De Jong is a wife, mother and full-time number cruncher who lives in the Midwest. Her writing journey involved insane amounts of coffee and many nights of very little sleep but she wouldn't change a thing. She also enjoys reading, football and music.
