This is the Kandi Steiner writing that I love (and hate at the same time). From page one for Make Me Hate You, I knew I was in for it. The longing. The heartbreak. The angst. That feeling of helplessness as it gets worse before it will maybe get better. There was no denying the bond between Jasmine and Tyler. Best friends for years. Until one awful night changed everything. After years with no communication, they're thrown back together again. And from the first moment they lay eyes on one another the sparks flew. I could feel the pull. They battle they both waged within themselves to stay away. My chest was heavy waiting to see if and when they would get over their fear and go for it. There were times I just wanted to jump into my kindle and yell and Tyler and Jasmine to get it together and get on the same page, at the same time. But I knew they had to take this journey. Figure out exactly what they wanted. Put their past behind them once and for all. Let it all go. Or try. Lives would be shaken up. Hearts would be broken. But they would also be healed. I liked that Kandi Steiner went for the emotional punch. She delivered. BIG TIME. Make Me Hate You was one sucker punch after another, after another. And I'm not even mad about it because as painful and hard as Jasmine and Tyler's path was, it was exactly the road they had to take to have the future they wanted together.
