Review by Lorena
Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god, this book was phenomenal. I have no words to express how much this book emotionally drained me. Everything about this book was just incredible. The story line was out of this world. I've read about stepbrothers, stepsisters, just about anything step related but this taboo book really did it for me. I've never read one like this one for sure.
Belen and Luciano really took a piece of my heart with them and the ending was so devastatingly sad for me that I wanted to literally cry. It was a happy ending for Belen but not the one I was expecting or wanted. Belen has loved Luciano "Lucky" all her life and so Lucky has loved Belen as well. They both know that their love is prohibited because they are related but that doesn't stop them from kissing and doing other things to each other. But as much as Belen wants to move on with her life she just can't because every time she sees Lucky her feelings just come pouring back for him. She hides them well when she's not around him, but as soon as she sees him, they all came barreling back in her life. Lucky is a very strong-willed guy and even though it kills him to see Belen suffer because of him, he tries to push her away every time she gets near him. He tries to hurt her in every way possible and he does, but that doesn't make Belen stop loving him. I have to say that this story gripped me emotionally, it shattered my heart into pieces, it gutted me. People may think that this is a taboo or disgusting story, but it's actually a beautiful story. As much as I wanted to put the kindle down, I just couldn't. I had to continue reading because I needed to find out what was going to happen with Belen and Lucky. Lucky may have started off as a troubled kid but he was trying everything in his power to try and forget Belen and would do things he knew were wrong, but that was him trying to be strong and stay as far away from her as he could. And he did manage it for many years -- but seriously, how much more could the guy have taken. The poor girl practically would throw herself at him and it just came to the time when they finally just gave in to their desires. The good thing about this book is that the siblings didn't see it as a disgusting relationship. They knew the kids were both hurting and how much they loved each other, even though they knew that their love was forbidden. They were always there for each other and protected each other, aside from their love for each other. I have to express how much I loved, LOVED this book and I have read some really good books, but I don't think any of them top this one. This book is beyond a five star read. I am going to be on the look out for more from this author. She's on my favorites list now!!
