3.5 Star Review by Ashley I'm not entirely sure how I stumbled upon Malt Me but I really enjoyed D.L Gallie's debut novel. There were some parts that were downright hard to read, because of their nature but I commend this new author for going for it. This book was as sweet as it was shocking. I really enjoyed Kenzie. Her character was nothing if not resilient. She battled her way back from pain and trauma more than anyone should have to, especially at the hands of someone who claims to care about her. And to help her along the way was the sweet and charismatic Jordan. I really liked how much they just "got" each other. From their drink choices to life goals these two were on the same page all the way through their story. I will say that I did find some of the dialogue a bit repetitive and some things were predictable. However, it all served its purpose and created a well rounded book. I can't leave out Jordan's best mate, Mike. This guy brought a much needed lighter side to the darker material of Malt Me. I am looking forward to his story in the near future. About the Author I’m from Queensland in Australia but I have lived all around the world. I’m currently living in Gladstone with my husband and two kids. I’ve been with my husband since I was 16, and even though we drive each other nuts at times, I couldn’t imagine my life without him.
I got back into reading just after I had my son and with some encouragement from my husband I started to write, and now the voices won't stop. I enjoy listening to music, drinking white wine in Summer, Red wine in Winter, beer all year round, I won't say no to a cocktail either (specifically a margarita), reading and now writing.
