One Moment Please by Amy Daws

Picture
That awkward moment when an ER doctor has to inform you that you’re pregnant…with his baby.

Three things Lynsey Jones knows about the hot doctor: he’s grouchy, an arrogant jerk, and strangely obsessed with pie.

Three things Dr. Josh Richardson knows: he doesn’t talk about his past, he doesn’t do relationships, and the crazy girl in the hospital cafeteria who ate a fistful of French silk pie…is annoyingly irresistible.

After a chance meetup at a bar and a heated cab ride together, things come to a head and now instead of hating each other, they’re horizontal in a bed.

Three months later, the weird cafeteria stalker who crept out of Josh’s house like a thief in the night, winds up as his patient in the ER after her Tinder date from hell.

The doctor is prepared to keep it cool and professional. That is until her bloodwork reveals she’s pregnant.

What really throws him for a loop…is the surprise baby…is his.

4 Heart Review by Ashley

I am still relatively new to Amy Daws but there is something about her writing that just sucks you in and doesn't let go. From the first page of One Moment Please I was on #TeamLynsey. Because Dr. Dick surely lived up to his name.

I adored Lynsey. She was smart and compassionate. A bit accident prone. And ready for the next phase of her life to take off. What she wasn't ready for was the broody, jerk of a doctor that had to get all up in her business. Oh that Josh. He was so hard to get a beat on. Standoffish. Arrogant. Cold. He didn't know any other way to be and it pushed every single one of Lynsey's buttons.

Simmering under all that animosity was a fire that they couldn't deny. WHOA HOT!!! These two were electric between the sheets. And did it ever get them into trouble. Not that they knew right away. However, when they both found out their situation it was Josh who went out of his way to make things right.

I really liked the gentle way Lynsey pushed him to let her in. It came in spurts, small half grins, but ever so slowly Josh started to let his guard down. There were plans and promises in place. But when a blast from his past ends up at his door, everything that they had built came crumbling down.

Amy Daws crafted something special with One Moment Please. I was ready for her humor, and there was buckets of it (cue awkward conversations with the doctor) but I wasn't expecting such an emotional kick to the gut. It was so hard to watch this couple who was so right together get it do wrong. My heart just broke for Lynsey and 'the peanut'. And, yes, Josh too. They all deserved so much more than they were allowing themselves to have. But Lynsey is a warrior and she went to battle for what she wanted. Was it sneaky? You bet. Was more than worth it to see that light flip for Josh? YES! Goodness me that ending had my eyes misty with happiness.
