Players gotta play.
Hate is like a poison. It contaminates everything.
So does doubt.
Even though I deny what I overheard, even though I insist it isn’t true, the seed of doubt has been planted. I can’t help but be tormented with the endless what-if’s that have taken over our lives.
Romeo and I were happy in love. The future stretched before us brighter than any star in the darkest sky. Now everything is broken. Literally broken. Romeo’s entire career is at stake, my entire future is threatened… and my past?
It’s coming back to haunt me.
To haunt us.
Romeo says we’re in this together and right now the only sure thing is us. But how far can a love so new be pushed? The lengths we will have to go to save each other puts everything at risk.
Romeo is a #player but how much of the game can one person play?

#Player is book number 3 in Cambria Hebert's wildly successful Hashtag series and it is the conclusion of Romeo and Rimmel's story.  Cambria Hebert does not disappoint in this fast paced, swoonworthy and beautiful story.

The book picks up right where #Hater ends and we find Romeo and Rimmel in the hospital after Rimmel's torture by Zach.  The question is up in the air - Will Romeo be able to play football again?  Does he blame Rimmel for his injury? Will Rimmel be able to look past his mom's betrayal of her?  Will the #Player be tamed once and for all.

This series was such a wonderful surprise to me - it is nothing at all similar to what I would usually read. It is set in college and focuses on college aged kids (about 21 years old).  It follows their struggles, trials and tribulations.

What I absolutely love about this series, is that it focuses on real people and real issues.  We all know that 1 girl that keeps to herself, that is shy that is considered a #Nerd and we all know the golden boy that all the girls want to get close to, the #Player with a whole stream of conquests that leaves a trail of girls in his wake.

I loved how Cambria melded these two "worlds" into one and we see just how beautifully they mesh.

The character of Rimmel is definitely one of my most favorite things about this book.  She is strong and intelligent and a modern day woman.  She has huge goals, dreams and ambitions.  She is not the run of the mill soft and soapy heroine that relies on the man to do everything for her.  Rimmel's strength shines through from the onset of the series and continues throughout.  I have to say she is one of my favorite heroine's to date - I just love her.

Romeo, oh Romeo, what can I say about him.  He is the epitome of the bad boy gone good.  He loves Rimmel with every fibre of his being.  Although, historically, not one for relationships, he has met his match and will do his utmost to keep her.  He is loyal to a fault and although he is an athlete he has smarts too, which is of course as always a huge plus.

I also love the secondary characters in this book - they all feel as if they have become good friends throughout this series.  We have Missy and Ivy, who are Rimmel's bff's - and I love how they support and love their friend.  In a world where social standing is of the utmost importance, these two loved Rimmel even when she was considered to be a #Nerd.

There is also swoonworthy Braeden, he is Romeo's best friend.  He has also declared himself Rimmel's BBFL (Big Brother For Life) - so incredibly sweet.

I am giving #Player 4.5 AMAZING stars.  This is definitely one of my favorite Young Adult series.  Although, not typically young adult as it has plenty of scorching hotness and is filled through with adult issues.   It is one of my must read series and I look forward to reading #Selfie, which will be Braeden's story, which Cambria is working on next.

Meet Cambria Hebert

Picture
Cambria Hebert is a bestselling novelist of more than twenty books. She went to college for a bachelor's degree, couldn't pick a major, and ended up with a degree in cosmetology. So rest assured her characters will always have good hair. She currently resides in North Carolina.

Besides writing, Cambria loves a caramel latte, staying up late, sleeping in, and watching movies. She considers math human torture and has an irrational fear of chickens (yes, chickens). You can often find her running on the treadmill (she'd rather be eating a donut), painting her toenails (because she bites her fingernails), or walking her chorkie (the real boss of the house).

Cambria has written within the young adult and new adult genres, penning many paranormal and contemporary titles. Her favorite genre to read and write is romantic suspense. A few of her most recognized titles are: #Nerd, Text, Torch, Tryst, Masquerade, and Recalled.
