Melissa Trujillo knows suffering. She's tasted it, touched it, injected it. Sobriety is a gift, but it isn't enough to wash away her secrets.

Kieran O’Connell knows sacrifice. He's owned it, held it between his fingers, and felt it in his knees. Words are his freedom, and they've begun to fade.

Two different worlds, one moment and the Earth shifts—granting them a path.
His eyes meet hers. Her hand fits his.

Kieran finds his muse.
Melissa finds her new addiction.

When sin meets virtue, angels fall, and the truth, it becomes a blade. Together they’ll walk the sharp edge, but if her lies cut too deep, not even his words could save her… save them.

4.5 Star Review by Ashley

A.M. Johnson is still a new to me author. This is only the second title of hers I've read but holy wowza. This story about family, redemption and love was just what I needed to read right now. Simply put, Poet was stunning.

I loved that Kieran wasn't an in your face kind of guy. He was quiet and reserved but passionate and full of fire. He wore his heart on the page, in black and white and when he met Melissa, it was as if his world was in color. She sparked something in him that had been missing for a while. And he did the same for her. I liked that she had been through so much. She was a fighter and willing to do the hard work to get to where she wanted to be. I was thankful that much of the story didn't focus on her past addiction but on how much she had overcome. How resilient she was and how despite all she had overcome, she still had her own doubts.

Kieran, sweet, shy, sexy Kieran with his smooth words and strong yet gentle hands soothed her. He helped her see her strength and beauty through his eyes. But Melissa's past is never far away and when Keiran learns the whole of it, he was devastated. I felt his anger and pain, Mel's too. She couldn't have hated herself more in those moments if she had tried. Thankfully, the rest of the O'Connell clan was there to help Kieran come to his senses.

I also rather how much the rest of the O'Connell family played a part in Poet. Kieran is the baby of the bunch after all. It was great getting to catch up with Liam, Paige, Kelly and Declan. A.M. Johnson's writing was powerful, honest and raw. Gah- my heart it was just so beautiful to see these two opposites open themselves up to something they didn't know would ever happen for them; love.  From suffering and sacrifice to passion and purpose, Mel and Kieran's story dripped off the pages and seared itself on my heart.
