Books are erotic romances written for mature audiences 18+. 4 Star Review by Ashley This is the first time I've read a book from Audrey Carlan but when I saw the words yoga and baseball in the same blurb I knew I wanted to give Resisting Roots a shot. The yogi in me found the peace within the pages even amidst all the drama surrounding the main characters. I was really taken my Genevieve from the moment I met her. This woman has the weight of the world on her petite shoulders but somehow finds a way to balance it. Her "me time" is very limited and it has been way too long since anyone has piqued her interest, until one Trent Fox gimps into her class. I loved that the seemingly put together woman was stunned silly. Oh Trent, player extraordinaire! With an ego as big as hit "bat", there was something about this guy that was equal parts charming and off putting. However, it didn't take long for me to warm to him and his antics. I loved his enthusiasm and how he was pulling out his best moves to try and woo Genevieve. It didn't take long for Trent to realize there was much more to the sweet and sexy teacher than met the eye. Her heart is just as stunning as her appearance and he finds himself falling hard and fast for the first time in forever. I also want to add in how much I enjoyed the gentle way the secondary cast of characters was introduced. It wasn't forced and they enhanced the story without taking the focus away from Trent and Genevieve. I can't leave out the yoga aspect. It is such an incredible practice and I really enjoyed seeing Trent's progress with the physical and mental grounding that comes along with an active practice. I loved that Audrey Carlan gave these characters real problems. Life happens to all of us when we're not expecting it. Athletes get hurt and need rehabilitation. Fate works in mysterious ways. Boys become men and men act like boys. Misunderstandings happen. Feelings get hurt and groveling ensues. All of that and so much more happened in Resisting Roots. There was laughter and tears, steam and sweetness, fear and hopefulness, loss and love. So much love and Trent and Genevieve have so much of it to give, I'm glad they gave it to each other!
