One of the hardest things I have ever had to do was bury my wife.

The second hardest thing would be watching my twelve-year-old daughter fall to her knees as they lowered her mother into the ground to rest.

A heart-wrenching vision that will forever be etched in my mind.

Claire was my best friend—she had been since we were barely old enough to talk. I always knew, one day, I would marry her. I think I may have even told her that a few times while we were growing up.

Never did I think I would lose her so suddenly.

I knew at that moment…

Our life would never be the same again…

This story is about love, loss and healing.  A man who had it all one moment and loses the love of his life the next.  He didn't think he could continue on with life after his wife passed away but he still had his daughter to live for and even though it was a struggle for him every day for the next three years, he managed and made an effort for his daughter.

When Amber comes into the picture, Ryan starts to feel again.  He starts having hope that maybe he's not a shell of a body, but he's actually starting to live again.  Amber brings out the best in him and it only takes one look, one breath for him to feel when he sees Amber.

Amber is a woman who lived in a big city but has opted to move to Montana and re-open her grandmother's bakery.  That's the one thing that her parents did right was to give her that bakery since her parents didn't acknowledge her so she might as well get something from them, maybe not love but she got the bakery and the one thing she loves to do is cook and bake.  But besides her being a great cook/baker she's got a heart of gold.

When Amber and Ryan collide they just fit perfectly together.  She sees the torment and sadness in Ryan's eyes and she wants to heal him.  She knows she will never replace Claire, Ryan's wife, but she can be Ryan's and Olivia's future.  The one thing she wants badly is to be loved by him and have Olivia's blessing and love as well.

Olivia being a spoiled brat didn't approve of their relationship at the beginning and would do whatever imaginable to keep them apart and Olivia was Ryan's number one concern but when he wouldn't budge when it came to Amber, Amber made the decision for him to focus on his daughter rather than their relationship.

It broke my heart to see that Amber actually sacrificed her love for Ryan in order to make Olivia happy.  Olivia didn't want anyone with her dad because she felt like her father would forget her mother.  But when you love a person, no matter if they are alive or dead, you will always have that person in your heart, even if you move on.

This book was great, it had a good story behind it and I loved the fact that it was about love and healing.  It took one good person to heal a broken soul and bring him back to life.

C.A. Harms did a wonderful job with this story -- I totally and utterly adored it!

5 stars!!
