My life changed forever the night my husband died.
I was left with a shattered heart, a heap of bills, and our daughter, EVERLEIGH. I don’t want to rely on anyone, least of all CREW GENTRY. He’s my first love and the man who almost destroyed me, the man who has let me down every time I’ve needed him.
But when tragedy strikes a second time, Crew just might be my only hope.

My life changed forever the night my brother died.
I was left with a guilty conscience, a pile of mistakes, and little else. I take care of JULIA GENTRY, my brother’s widow and the love of my life, and their daughter. I know she doesn’t want my help, but she gets it anyway. I owe her that.

When another disaster hits, I’m given the opportunity to make things right. I’m taking it. I'm willing to sacrifice it all.

My heart literally shattered reading this book.  It was beautifully written, the story line was fantastic -- very heartbreaking.  This book will have you in tears so you better be prepared to have tissues next to you.

Crew Gentry -- a guy who really took life for granted, did whatever he wanted and didn't really take any care in the world especially when he thought he had everything literally at his fingertips.  But things didn't turn out the way he wanted due to a back injury that took his dreams away.

Julia Gentry -- the love of her life was Crew until he left her and went to attend college at the University of Minnesota and totally forgot about his family back home.  He became greedy and forgot about Julia.  Julia moved on and did what she had to do.  She wasn't planning on falling in love with someone else but she did since Crew abandoned her.

When Crew comes back home after his injury that took his dreams away, he would look out for Julia and his niece, Ever.  But Julia was always cold towards him and would fight with him, telling him that she didn't need him and to stop trying to take care of them.  But Crew couldn't and wouldn't leave Julia and his niece because they were the two most important people in his life, regardless of his situation with Julia.

When things start getting complicated and when Julia receives some devastating news regarding her daughter, she has no choice but to lean on Crew and even though she's afraid he'll leave them again because that's what he's good at doing, she has no choice but to do it.  What Julia doesn't realize is that Crew has grown up and he feels like he needs to be responsible for Julia and Ever and after what he finds out, he knows that now more than ever he needs to be there for them, he's even willing to sacrifice his life for these girls that mean the world to him.

This book has to be one of my favorites this year.  It captivated me since the beginning and I had to keep going because I needed to know what was going to happen.  I was torn throughout this book and I shed a few tears.  As much as this book was sad and tore me apart throughout the whole story, I did shed a few tears of joy when I finished.  Crew really captured my heart, he was my hero in this story to have sacrificed himself the way he did for the love he had for Julia and Ever.  Now that's what I call true love right there.

If I could give this book more than five stars, I definitely would!!
