She is the key to my salvation.
The end to my freedom.

Not much gets past Special Agent Alley Rhodes, but there's one case she hasn't solved: the murder of her father. The decade-old cold case drives her to be the best at her job. She was told that he'd died in the line of duty during a convenience store robbery gone bad, but when she discovers a mysterious package on her doorstep with evidence proving otherwise, she's left with more questions than answers. Needing one night of escape, she uncharacteristically opens up to a handsome stranger in a bar, a choice that could turn into a deadly mistake.

3 Heart Review by Ashley

Things I love in my romance reads: strong leading women, a man with protective instincts and danger. And even though Salvation had all of that, I have mixed feelings on my first book from Melissa Ellen. Don't get me wrong, it was non-stop chemistry and tension but I wanted more of the romantic connection between Ally and Merrick.

That being said, I liked Ally. She was strong and brave and stuck. Trying to get answers to the one case that had always plagued her, her father's. And when she starts getting too close to the truth, it makes her a target. Enter Merrick. Her one night stand that keeps popping up. I enjoyed Merrick's protective side. How he went all out to keep Ally safe. Even when that wasn't his 'job'. As they spend more time together, the lines between what is good and right and wrong start to blur.

The more they dig and uncover, the deeper this thing Ally found herself in the middle of got and the more the danger escalated. Conspiracies, crime and cover ups are the name of the game. And when she learns the truth, she is torn between following her head or heart. From start to finish, Ally and Merrick's romance was dangerous and steamy and twisted. There was more than one moment that had me holding my breathing waiting to see what would happen. And that ending....let's just say Melissa Ellen had me going there for a moment.

About the Author

Picture
I'm an indie author that focuses on contemporary romance with a little bit of everything: humor, angst and sometimes suspense. A Reason To Stay, book one of the Blackwood Series, was my debut novel.

I grew up as a book worm, reading anything and everything and still try to read at least a book a week. I've always had an active imagination. Luckily, I now have time to put it to good use writing about characters that are constantly swarming around in my head.

I went from designing buildings to crafting stories. I'm a creative entrepreneur and coffee connoisseur.
