Her.

A widow at forty-four, her husband left her a letter.
Contact Denton.
Once upon a time, the three of them had been best friends.
Mati Rath isn’t sure she should look back.
Her heart isn’t ready, or so she thinks.

Him.

A pleading phone call forces him to make a decision.
I’ll be there.
Yet, he hasn’t been home in twenty-seven years.
Denton Chance isn’t sure he should return.
The past still haunts his heart.

A desire that never left them, along with circumstances beyond their control, brings the past to the present.

Can one sexy silver fox face the woman he once left behind but never let go?

Sometimes love deserves a second chance.

4 Star Review by Ashley

Can you see? My preach hand is up because L.B. Dunbar's latest was second-chance romance at its finest. The angst and yearning was palpable. The guilt and secrets were thick. And as Denton and Mati learned the hard way, timing is everything.

Childhood best friends. Strangers for the past twenty plus years. A looming tragedy brings him back to town with a heart full of regret. And a head full of doubt. Regret for how he left years ago. Doubt that Marti will see past her hurt.

The was a longing in both of them. For Denton is was for Marti to see him. As the boy who knew her inside and out. And the man who didn't want to lose this chance but didn't know how to grasp it either. And Marti- she wanted it all. To move forward with her life. With her friend and the man who set her on fire. I kept waiting for the sexual tension to explode and when it did...Can you say hot? Because it was.

However, they could never seem to get on the same page. Ugh. I just wanted to lock them in a room and force them to talk to each other. These two who never hid anything from each other until love got in the way.

I loved that there were a lot of new characters introduced in this book. Can you say spinoff series? Fingers crossed that L.B. Dunbar runs with this small town because it is ripe for romance. The Tommy and Hank sighting didn't hurt anything either. I'm not going to lie, there is a fair amount of loss and pain in the pages of Second Chance. But there is also so much hope and expectation. Denton and Mati are the proof that it is never too late to open yourself up. To follow your dreams and your heart especially when happiness and love are on the line.

About the Author

L.B. Dunbar loves the sweeter things in life: cookies, Coca-Cola, and romance. Her reading journey began with a deep love of fairy tales, medieval knights, Regency debauchery, and alpha males. She loves a deep belly laugh and a strong hug. Occasionally, she has the energy of a Jack Russell terrier. Accused—yes, that’s the correct word—of having an overactive imagination, to her benefit, such an imagination works well. Author of over two dozen novels, she’s created sweet, small town worlds; rock star mayhem; MMA chaos; sexy rom-coms for the over 40; and intrigue on an island of redemption. In addition, she is earning a title as the “myth and legend lady” for her modernizations of mythology as elda lore. Her other duties in life include mother to four children and wife to the one and only.
