Even if I've never heard of the author as is the case here, Lisa Cardiff is brand new to me. I enjoyed her writing style as it kept me invested in the book and what was happening with the main characters. There are a few references to events that took place in the first book in this series- which I haven't read- but it doesn't detract anything from Sins, Lies & Spies. The dual POV really helped me connect with both characters because hello, their spies, they lie for a living! I liked Trinity, this fiery woman with a backbone of steel. She has lived through more than her fair share of ups and downs and has the strength to prove it. I think my favorite thing about her was how she still held onto just a touch of vulnerability and only Knox was able to break through all of her tough-girl facade and see it. Though my favorite part of this entire book was Knox. Broody, protective, strong willed, loyal friend, devoted brother and sexy as all get out. To say the first meeting between Trinity and Knox was unconventional is an understatement. They're both working a job, from opposite sides of the matter and circumstance throws them together. The chemistry between them is undeniable and they can't keep their minds or hands or lips off of each other. I liked that they were both willing to put aside their self-righteousness and focus on the task at hand and getting to the bottom of the situation they found themselves in. No thanks to my least favorite person in the story, Miles. What a tangled an convoluted web of deceit and trickery these two find themselves in. Amidst the questions and danger Knox and Trinity realize that there is more at stake than some decade old secrets being revealed, their hearts are on the line too. The intensity gradually builds until it all comes to a head. I wasn't expecting that final twist that revealed who the true mastermind behind this scheme was. Lisa Cardiff kept me guessing until the very end in this fast-paced read. While Trinity and Knox's road to happiness was full of bumps and detours along the way it was uniquely theirs. Any other ending and it just wouldn't have fit who they were as individuals and as a couple. About the AuthorAfter spending years practicing law and a million other things, Lisa decided to pursue her dream of becoming a writer and she must confess that inventing characters is so much more fun than writing contracts and legal briefs. A native of Colorado, she lives with her husband and three children in Denver. When she isn’t managing the chaos of raising three children and owning her own business, she can be found reading or writing a book.
