Every single book from Penelope has left me with such a high when I'm done reading that it takes me a while to be able to pick up another book. Her books are ingrained in my system! Sevin is a man who was brought up with morals as a good christian boy. He was taught to always respect women and treat them properly. But what people didn't know was that Sevin was really anything but the good boy that he portrayed to be. When Sevin received the news that he was to be committed in an arranged marriage, he saw this as an opportunity to leave his hometown and life that he hated. He didn't get along well with his stepmother and he just wanted to be as far away from her as he could. Sevin was to marry Elle, a good christian girl and even though Sevin knew he didn't love her, he felt that he could learn to love her. In exchange for marrying Elle he was going to become president of Elle's father's company in due time. But what Sevin didn't anticipate was to fall in love with Evangeline, Elle's older sister. Evangeline was a girl who was very free spirited. She wanted to experience and live life before she had to settle down. She wanted to love and be loved. She just wasn't ready to commit and marry anyone that her parents arranged for her. So she decided to hold off on marriage. What Evangeline didn't count on was to fall in love with her sister's fiance. Evangeline and Sevin became fast friends and felt comfortable around each other. They had a bond that was just unbreakable and throughout their friendship, they found that they were in love with each other. Evangeline and Sevin knew that what they were feeling for each other was wrong since he was to marry Elle, but their love and chemistry was just too strong. Sevin made a decision to not marry Elle in the end and try and pursue whatever it was that he and Evangeline were feeling for each other, even though they knew that people were going to end up hurt in the end. But what neither one knew was that life had a different path for them. Certain circumstances got in the way and forced Evangeline and Sevin to not pursue their love. Elle needed Sevin more than ever at this point in time and Evangeline took it upon herself to disappear from their lives so Sevin can be there for Elle and make her happy. Evangeline decided to disappear. It tore her apart but she knew she had to do this. Sevin was left devastated, hurt and angry. He knew nothing about her whereabouts and finally he gave up and married Elle. He was there for her, dedicated his time to work and Elle. He took very good care of her. But life again, had other plans. Evangeline came back into town after receiving some pretty sad news in regards to her sister Elle. This is where the test really begins. Can Sevin forgive and forget? Evangeline knows that Sevin has resentment towards her but she doesn't regret doing what she did because she knew it was for the best for all of them. As time passes, Sevin starts softening up and trying to trust Evangeline again and he starts thinking that maybe he can forgive her. But when he's in the middle of the process of forgiving and forgetting, Evangeline has more shocking news for Sevin that this time makes him not want to speak to her nor can he find it in his heart to forgive her. Life has a way of always interfering in our lives. Things are done for a reason and there's always a purpose as to why things are done this way. The main thing is, can Sevin forgive Evangeline and trust her again? He has an immense love for this woman that even though he wants to hate her, he knows that deep down in his heart he just never could. Evangeline knows that she has made some really bad decisions but is willing to rectify her mistakes, she knows she can't change the past but she's willing to make a better future. I can't get enough of reading her books and I can tell you right now that I will never tire of reading anything she comes out with in the near future. She has such a special way of writing and her books always, and I mean always leave me with heartache and tears, whether good or bad tears. But I put Ms. Ward on a pedestal for having such an amazing imagination and giving us such amazing books.
