Max Kaufman was kicked out of his home as a teen and his life has been an uphill battle ever since. From addiction and living on the streets, to recovery and putting himself through nursing school, he’s spent the last ten years rebuilding his shattered sense of self. Now he’s taken a job as a private caretaker to Edward Marsh III, the president and CEO of one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world. Max soon learns Marsh’s multi-billion-dollar empire is a gold and diamond-encrusted web of secrets and lies. The longer Max works and lives with the Marsh family, the tighter the secrets tangle around him. And his heart—that he’s worked so hard to protect—falls straight into the hands of the distant, cold, and beautiful son of a dynasty… Silas Marsh is set to inherit the family fortune, but his father is determined his heir be the “perfect” son. Before Silas can take over the company and end its shady business practices, he must prove himself worthy…and deny his true nature. Silas must choose: stand up to his father by being true to himself and his undeniable feelings for Max. Or pretend to be someone he is not in order to inherit everything. Even if it means sacrificing a chance at happiness and real love. 4.5 Heart Review by Ashley Emma Scott slayed me with Someday, Someday. From the first page, I knew my heart was going to be in for it. Here's your warning, this book was heavy. Hard to swallow at times. And I found myself rubbing my chest to ease some of the ache. But it was so worth it. I loved Max. His life was challenging but he was so strong. Pulled himself up out of his darkest moments, and learned who he was. What he would and wouldn't stand for. But it was his kindness, his compassion, his tender heart that endeared him to me the most. And when a job opportunity leads his to the door of the mysterious and guarded Silas, all bets are off. I bled for Silas. He had such a good heart under all his hurt. He had been through more than most. The pain of his past haunted him daily. He couldn't escape it even in his dreams. It took a lot of patience on Max's part and a lot of soul searching on Silas' but they came to a friendship of sorts. And bubbling under all of it was this attraction, this tension that was just waiting to ignite. Between a crisis of epic proportions brewing at work, and finally letting himself feel for the first time in ages, Silas is on unsteady ground. He doesn't like it. But he sure did like Max. The push and pull. The fear of the fall out of their friendship that was so much more...it was all getting ready to implode and no one would be left unscathed. What a twisted tale of family, scheming, forgiveness and hope. Hats off to Emma Scott for tackling addiction and abuse and acceptance boldly with the grace and care those topics deserve. And in the middle of it all was a love story that made my heart soar. Both Max and Silas battled so much. Survived so much. They fought hard for their happiness, their love. Each other. And that made everything they achieved together all the much sweeter.
