Taz: My life is finally perfect. My dreams have all come true. I'm where I want to be with the bureau; having the career I've been planning since I did my stint in the military. I'm married to the one and only woman I've ever loved; my heart beats for her alone. Together we've made beautiful babies that I adore. I'm thirty-three years old and I'm complete. Then one day, it all changes. Slate recruits me for a temporary assignment that is underneath the radar for a reason. The bureau hasn't sanctioned it as a priority, but Slate feels it is because of who is involved: Sue Ellen Reynard. Yeah, remember her? Lindsey: Our lives were perfect. Taz and I had everything we'd ever hoped for: family, careers and an everlasting devotion to one another. Suddenly nothing is the same. In a single moment, my biggest fear is realized by one phone call from Slate: an 'agent is missing'. My agent; my Taz . . . This is just the beginning of our long journey. Will things ever be the same again? Review by Amanda Taz is book number 4 in Andrea Smith's G-Man series and although it can be read as a standalone, it follows on Trace "Taz" and Lindsey Matthews story, so I would definitely recommend you read Love Plus One first. Having said that though, the whole G-Man series is PHENOMENAL and is soon to be released as a box set, so I would HIGHLY recommend 1 clicking it. Taz picks up with the Matthews in wedded bliss - a few years down the line, 2 kids later and still passionately in love. Taz is still in the FBI, but has joined the BAU division (that in alone opens up a monologue of hilarity within the book). Lindsey and Sammie have opened up their own decorating business, and are really doing well with it. They have landed their first national contract with Liam Avery and life for the Slater/Matthews clan has never been better. The course of true love never did run smooth, and soon Slate is calling Taz in for help with a new assignment. Taz has the expertise that Slate needs, but the stipulation of the assignment is that he can not reveal to Lindsey the truth of what he is doing and he will be gone for between 6 and 8 weeks. Things go bad during the assignment and Taz is captured. He spends a few weeks with his captor who convinces him that he is one of the lead role players in the group. Slate is left with giving the devastating news to Lindsey - and at this point they don't know whether he is dead or alive. After an accidental discovery, Taz is soon rescued by the FBI and returned home. However, he is a different person - not one that Lindsey recognises. He has changed, he has endured things and Lindsey has seen things that she cannot forget. Will the changes in Taz mean an end to their marriage? Will Taz fight for the woman and children he once loved? Will they finally be together without the ghosts of the past hanging over them. Well what can I say except WOW!!! This book had me hooked from Love Plus One actually. I fell in love with these characters immediately. Taz is the typical alpha male, and completely what you would expect from a FBI agent. He is sharp witted, fit, well educated and oh yes, damn gorgeous. He also has a PhD in psychology - smart and sexy, swoon.. Lindsey has recovered well from the trauma that she endured in Love Plus One, and she is focused on building her life and her business. Her family is complete and things between her and Taz could not be any better - or any hotter! HOLY! The things that these two do to each other in bed will leave you fanning yourself for days. I really loved that aspect of their relationship - they had real issues that parents today have, but still managed to keep the romance and passion alive. The book is also a rollercoaster of an adventure, and there were times where it had me so wound up and tense, I would literally have to take a 5 minute break to recover. It really is that good. You begin to feel as if you are living the story and not just reading it from the outside. It is fast paced, hair raising and most certainly heart breaking. There were situations with Taz and Lindsey speaking to Ralston that left my heart feeling incredibly sore and with me in tears. We also got reacquainted with our friends from the rest of the series, and it was really wonderful to catch up with them years later and see where they are and what had happened to them. I also loved the interaction with the kids - it was hilarious, and so accurate. Harper was the epitome of a precocious toddler who adores her daddy, but is irritated by her baby brother. I loved how both Taz and Lindsey interacted with the two kids. It was incredibly real. I am giving this book 5 amazing stars. I loved every roller coasting moment of it. This book was full of everything you could possibly want - angst, humor, heartache, family and love. Andrea Smith has yet again knocked out a phenomenal book in this incredible series. This is a MUST read for 2015. If you love a book that sucks you in from beginning to end then this book is for you.
