You don’t know when… You don’t get to choose if… When it’s time to join…you’ll know. You might think you want to be a member—but trust me this is one club you don’t want to join. It’s not a place where people go to live out their deepest, darkest sexual desires—there are no handcuffs or blindfolds. The 27 Club only admits those who die young and tragically. My brother was recently bestowed membership and joined many of our ancestors before him. I know I’m next. This is my destiny, and I was ready to yield. But then I met Nate. He awakened a sensuality in me that had never been explored, never satisfied. I knew then I could no longer accept my destiny. Nate’s presence controls me. I’m overwhelmed by his touch, his words; my every thought is consumed by desire. I believe he was brought into my life for a reason. Nate doesn’t believe in destiny. But I do. And if there’s a way to cheat it—I must. ___________________________________________________________ (Content below this line is only shown after clicking "Read More") Review by Lorena I have read every single book by Kim Karr and I have to say that I totally love the Connected Series. I was really excited when I heard she was coming out with a stand alone and couldn't wait to read it. So my thoughts on The 27 Club is that I found this refreshing and very different. Nate didn't believe in relationships and love and he had his reasons for not believing in that. Zoey just wanted to get through and find out what happened to her brother. Zoey was determined to find out why or what caused her brother's death. Nate being Zach's best friend agreed to help Zoey try and solve the mystery of Zach and his ways of life. The thing with Zachary is that he would go over and beyond for his sister and his grandmother. He would go through great lengths to make sure they had everything they needed. Zoey lived in fear after her brother died because she felt like her destiny to die was next. She was a firm believer and they had this crazy notion that they were destined to die at the age of 27. Their family tree seemed to have ancestors that died at the age of 27. Their grandfather and their mother both died at the ripe ol' age of 27. Can this be the end for Zoey as well? Is she really destined to die at the age of 27? Did Zach die because it was his turn to die at the age of 27? So many questions, questions, questions! While Zoey and Nate were trying to find out the mystery of Zach's death and how he came up with the money to support her and her grandmother, Nate and Zoey decided to have a no-strings attached kind of relationship but throughout this crazy "relationship" what Zoey and Nate failed to realize is that they were falling in love with each other. Neither wanted to admit their real feelings. Boy, oh boy, the hot sex in this book was just that....freaking HOT! The chemistry between them was undeniable. Nate pushed Zoey's boundaries out of her limits and for some reason, Zoey wanted to be pushed and she wanted to expirment as much as she could with Nate. She wasn't afraid when it came to trying new things with him -- something she never did before. She lead a boring life in NY and was always the goody two shoes type of girl. Nate brought her naughtiness out of her! Just loved how everything unfolded in the end and what Zoey figured out about her brother and the lengths he went through just to make sure she was taken care of. He though of her first before he thought of himself. She also found out other things about her brother, but over all -- Zoey was proud of her brother and everything he went through for her and her grandmother. Kim has done it again for me with the 27 Club. I fell in love with both Nate and Zoey. They had their moments but both had such strong personalities and the way they meshed together was just unbelievable. 5 star read for me and I look forward to reading more from Ms. Karr. She is one of my favorite authors -- I love her style of writing and her books are always interesting and never bore you.
