Ryder "Boomer" Hess: former Army Ranger. Demolitions expert. Problem solver...and the unluckiest bastard around when it comes to love. Meeting women is never a problem but actually surviving a relationship? Not happening. And all because of his kid sister's best friend.

Hannah Montgomery: professional volunteer. Humanitarian activist. Eternal optimist...and a woman who lost her heart years ago to her best friend's brother. She's learned to turn that heartache into something useful and now loses herself in helping others...until he shows up and turns her world upside down.

When Ryder gets a call that his sister—and Hannah—could be in trouble, he drops everything and rushes to their rescue—and quickly learns that he might be the one who needs rescuing the most. But danger of another sort looms on the horizon and it's up to Ryder to save them. And if he fails, he'll lose a lot more than just his heart this time.

3.5 Heart Review by Ashley

I always get excited for new to me romantic suspense authors and Lisa B. Kamps fit that bill. The blurb for RYDER had a few of my favorite things- danger, a touch of the forbidden and a second-chance at love, so I knew I wanted to give it a shot.

I liked Hannah. She was kind and headstrong. A do-gooder through and through. But when a blast from her past, Ryder, her best friends brother, gets called in to help with a tricky, possibly dangerous situation, it stirs up all kinds of feelings. And not all of them were positive. There was some pain, anger, resentment and also a fair dose of guilt. On both sides.

With danger coming from an unknown villain and very limited resources, it was a race against the clock for Ryder to get to the bottom of the mystery. Throw in the barrage of emotions that being around each other again stirred up and it was recipe for something explosive.

Things really picked up with about twenty percent left to go. It was intense and forced Hannah and Ryder to put aside all their past turmoil and work together to get things done. But I found the way things wrapped up anti-climatic. Yes, justice was served but there were so many unanswered questions that I was left feeling unsettled about how it played out. However, the very end was swoony to the max. Which left me feeling even more confused about my overall impression with the book.

About the Author

Lisa B. Kamps is a USA Today Bestselling Author who writes steamy romance with real-life characters and relatable stories that evoke deep emotion. She likes her men hard, her bed soft, her coffee strong, her whiskey neat, and her wine chilled...and when it comes to sports, hockey is the only thing that matters!

Lisa currently lives in Maryland with her husband and two sons (who are mostly sorta-kinda out of the house), one very spoiled Border Collie, two cats with major attitude, several head of cattle, and entirely too many chickens to count. When she's not busy writing or chasing animals, she's cheering loudly for her favorite hockey team, the Washington Capitals--or going through withdrawal and waiting for October to roll back around!
