This book is a STANDALONE. It follows two side characters from The Duet, but every detail you need to know will be included. Five minutes until the interview begins. Fresh on the heels of her college graduation, Cameron Heart has landed an interview at a prestigious architecture firm. Four minutes until the interview. She knows she’s only there because the owner, Grayson Cole, is her older sister’s friend. Three minutes. For the last seven years, Grayson has been the most intimidating man Cammie has ever had the pleasure, or displeasure, of being around. Two Minutes. But the job opportunity is too good to pass up. So, Cammie will have to ignore the fact that Grayson is handsome enough to have his own national holiday. One. After all, she shouldn’t feel that way about her new boss. And, he will be her new boss. … “I’m not intimidated by you,” I said with a confident smile. “Perhaps we should fix that, Ms. Heart. Close the door.” Review by Amanda Cameron/Cammie is ready to start her life - she has just completed her masters degree in architecture and is ready to take on the world by storm. Although, the plan is very short term, she longs to head to Paris. Finding a job in the interim is the stepping stone for her to do this. Cammie has always been obsessed with Grayson Cole - in fact he is the reason she studied architecture, although he doesn't know this. Grayson is good friends with Cammie's older sister, and although he has made appearances in Cammie's life, they have been fast and fleeting. In fact, even though they share a common bond (the love of Cammie's sister), Grayson does his utmost to stay away from Cammie - to the point of being rude and ignoring her. However, upon completion of her studies, he tells her sister he wants her to come for an interview at his architectural firm. Grayson is a no nonsense business man. He accepts nothing less than perfection. Irrespective of where you work in his company - you need to ensure that you are the best. Grayson is also adverse to dating. He has casual friends that visit him for the even more casual hook ups, but anything more serious, he has no interest in. Upon employing Cammie he reveals to her that he has always been attracted to her, which leaves her absolutely dumb founded. She is sure that she is now going to get the opportunity to live out her teenage dreams. Unfortunately, Grayson puts that to a very quick stop, when he advises her that he does not have any type of relationships with his staff. "Despite my best efforsts to rid myself of it, I've always felt an attraction to you, Cameron. I've ignored that desire mainly because you're too young for me. Now, it's more inappropriate than ever." - The Design, R.S. Grey Unfortunately, Grayson puts that to a very quick stop, when he advises her that he does not have any type of relationships with his staff. Let's be honest though, nothing makes a person want something more than knowing they cannot have it. "After all, I'd just landed my dream job, so it looked like I was onto the newest item on my to-do list: Grayson Cole." - The Design, R.S. Grey The sexual tension between these two sizzles right off the pages. It will leave you very much hot and bothered! WOW! Well played R.S. Grey. Cammie is young, so she often does things that push the boundaries of what is considered appropriate, but in the really funniest ways. Cammie is strong willed, ambitious and has the most amazing capacity to love, despite of what she has been through in her short life. I loved Grayson - he is the epitome of a stoic and proper man. He does what society expects, he governs himself by rules, but he is also a human being. He does his utmost to curb his feelings for Cammie and to keep things strictly professional. However, as their business relationship develops and he takes Cammie under his wing - the lines are very quickly blurred. We are also introduced to secondary characters, that really rounded the book off quite nicely. We meet Hannah, Cammie's roommate. Alan, Cammie's boss - who you will quickly find is nothing but a slimy beast. We also meet Peter, her colleague and friend, who you will fall in love with. It is all this fine aspects that wrap this beautifully crafted story up into such a neat package, which is nothing less than what we have come to expect from R.S. Grey. I loved this booking - I loved the sexual tension, the chemistry between the two lead characters. I also really enjoyed that this wasn't simply a case of boy meets girl and falls in love and happily ever after. These two endure so much - will it be worth it? Will they find their happily ever after? Or are they destined to be nothing more than colleagues? R.S. Grey keeps us guessing right to the end, and I FLOVED it. I am giving this book 4 amazing stars! Meet R.S. Grey I am a lover of books, chocolate, reality TV, metaphors and similes, black labs, and cold weather. Seriously, if I had it my way I would be curled up on the couch with all of those things... everyday.
I live in Texas where I spend my free time writing and reading. My favorite authors are Mindy Kaling & Jonathan Safran Foer. I'm a comedy geek and love all things "funny". Women like Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and Mindy Kaling are definitely the biggest inspirations for my writing, though I think my work tends to skew a bit smuttier than theirs.
