The First Taste by Jessica Hawkins

Andrew Beckwith has already devoted his life to one girl—and as far as he’s concerned, she’s all he needs. The rough-around-the-edges bad boy left his reckless ways behind six years ago when his daughter Bell was born. To the female population’s dismay, he’s unapologetically single. When Bell’s mother walked out on them years ago, he vowed never to let another woman close enough to hurt them again.

Amelia Van Ecken isn’t just another woman. She’s an independent, smart, and savvy businesswoman who doesn’t have time for sex, much less love. In the midst of a drawn-out, bitter divorce, all she wants is to bury herself in work. But when sharp-tongued Amelia and stubborn Andrew cross paths, sparks fly—and burn. Two things are obvious in an instant: they want each other, and they’re from different worlds. It’s the perfect formula for an off-the-charts one-night stand. After all, it’s not as if opposites ever attract.

The First Taste, a standalone spin-off of the Slip of the Tongue.

You can't go wrong with one of Jessica Hawkins' books. She always knows how to attract your attention and keep it focused on her books and you find it difficult to stray while reading her work.

The First Taste was really HOT! A marvelously delicious read!

This book was about a guy who has trust issues and the only focus he has and plans on having is all about his daughter. His daughter is his world and he doesn't think a woman coming into his life fits in. Can a woman break down his walls and make him trust again?

Amelia is a woman who is going through a bitter divorce and also doesn't believe a man can be trusted, especially what she's gone through. All she cares about is her business and focuses solely on that. She's bitter and at this point doesn't care to get involved, much less have one-night stands.

But when Amelia and Andrew first meet, they instantly see that attraction between them. He's definitely not her type and neither is she for him. But sometimes opposites attract right!

I loved the connection between them, Amelia and Andrew.

Andrew a hot as hell and devoted father who always and I mean always puts his daughter's needs first, it's so bad that he is oblivious of all the women lusting after him.

Amelia is a very beautiful women, well put together and never leaves her house all dolled up, but under that exterior, she is a beautiful woman without having to dress up and look impeccable with her suits and her hair pinned back.

Amelia and Andrew make such an amazing couple despite their differences, but that's what made this book interesting. Seeing how they were going to carry on and if they could make this more than just a one-night stand.

It was just impossible for me to focus on anything else other than this story, it had my full attention.

Ms. Hawins' will not disappoint with this book, as she hasn't with all the rest of her books! As each book comes out, I'm always eager and anxious to read them because I absolutely adore her style and her stories captivate me to end!

Another phenomenal 5 star read!
