Levi Walker never expected to be a single father at thirty-four. Then again, there were several things he hadn’t anticipated like a life-altering situation in the military or a certain girl, who was now a woman, standing before him again. Memories of her haunted his dreams and kept him alive on more than one occasion. From an accidental kiss when she was too young to an intentional one when she was old enough, Levi hasn’t been able to forget her.

Katie Carter has grown up confident and successful despite her early childhood. At twenty-seven, she has everything she could have asked for except two things - love and marriage. She’s always been a bit of a dreamer and there’s one man in particular who has filled her fantasies for years. When she’s reunited with him, some embarrassing moments resurface and the heart remembers innocent feelings that might lead to more as grown adults.

It’s a family celebration that brings Levi Walker (Read With Your Heart) and Katie Carter (Speak From The Heart) back to Elk Lake City, igniting old memories and sizzling new attractions between friends who grew up together.

The Heart Remembers is a standalone spin-off novella from the Heart Collection, joining aged children in a second chance reunion.

** Previously published as The History in Us. Now, a completely new story for two beloved characters. **

4 Heart Review by Ashley

I love me a slow burn and The Heart Remembers gave me that in heaps. Not only did L.B. Dunbar embrace the large family celebrating together dynamic (which I know so well), she captured the small-town feel in all its glory.

I adored Katie. She was kind and generous. Loved her family fiercely and wanted someone to love her the same way. So did Levi. The man with a troubled past and hard present. The man finding his footing as a single parent. The man longing for acceptance and a home to call his own. The man who didn't think he deserved Katie.

It was the small, stolen moments that made my heart both ache and race along with Katie and Levi's. Cue the longing and impossibility of their situation. Their family ties only further complicated things. Especially when Katie's broody father extraordinaire Jess wised up to what was happening.

Gah! When I say I devoured this book I mean I read it in one sitting. The Heart Remembers was everything I wanted and needed. Katie and Levi's romance was smart and heartfelt, tender and sweet and I didn't want it to end.

About the Author

I’ve been accused of having an over-active imagination. To my benefit, this imagination has created over twenty novels, including the creation of a small-town world (Sensations Collection), rock star mayhem (Legendary Rock Star series), MMA chaos (Paradise Stories), rom-com for the over forty (The Sex Education of M.E.), and a suspenseful island for redemption (The Island Duet). My alter ego, elda lore, creates magical romance through mythological retellings (Modern Descendants). My life revolves around a deep love of reading about fairy tales, medieval knights, regency debauchery, and strong alpha males. I love a deep belly laugh, a strong hug, and an occasional margarita. My other loves include being mother to four grown children and wife to the one and only.
