Four unlikely couples, one fascinating neighborhood. There must be something in the whiskey here in Williamsburg, Brooklyn because love is in the air, and the New York City summer heat isn’t the only thing making these sexy hipsters sizzle. A barista, a tattoo artist, a musician, and a baker. Lumbersexual beards, steampunk ink, acoustic guitars, and lip-smacking sweet treats. Unbutton your cardigan, pull up your suspenders and prepare to experience the trendy world of these eclectic characters as they stumble into love, one culture-infused tale at a time. And just when you think all’s kosher under the bright city lights, hold on to your aviators while these close-knit, quirky twosomes reveal a few surprises you won’t soon forget at an end of summer rooftop shindig. 4 Star Review by Ashley Grab your suspenders & straighten your bow tie because the Hipsters are here! Oh how I loved reading the lighter side of Faith Andrews once again. This collection of short stories is just what I needed. And since I live in NYC, I can tell you that the hipster vibe was spot on. I enjoyed that the characters in the individual stories were connected in someway but since each couple has it's own unique story, I'm gonna break it down by book. JUST STRUMMIN' IT...Milo, he is what I like to call hot buttered yum. And a musician! BOOM go the ovaries. This man is walking, talking sex on a stick and he knows it. And uses it to his advantage with his new student Emmy. I liked her a lot. She was fun and willing to try just about anything. Including Milo. HOT!!! SCRUFF YOU...HA! I really liked shy and proper Greta with her secret lust for the broody barista, Ezra. A freak storm makes for quite an uncomfortable afternoon that lets these two really get to know the person behind the bravado. And what's more hipster than a coffee shop?! COUNTRY BOY...Marley & Jasper were probably my favorite couple to read (and not just because the guys name is Jasper). AND! This one had one of the most hilarious lines I think I've ever read (no spoilers here). These two were night and day. So very different from each other but so open and interested in getting to know the other. I loved how they explored each others worlds. So fun. LET HIM EAT CAKE- What's New York without a few broken hearts right? I liked that this one pulled at the emotions a little more. And that it was the guy who had his heart hurt was quite refreshing. There was all kinds of yummy food- which is a total Hipster thing and the food disasters were quite funny too, I also liked that while the story focused on Zander and Paulina, some of the other characters were tied in. THE ROOFTOP! The absolute perfect way to tie all these stories together. The vibe was a little melancholy, just like everyone at the end of summer. But it wasn't sad or depressing, in fact it was quite entertaining; especially for Jane. I think what I loved most about this collection from Faith Andrews is that the ending was still open. There are still places for her to take these characters and I hope to see them again soon! Coffee addict, lover of wine and cheese, and sucker for concerts and Netflix, Faith believes in love at first sight and happily ever after.
