I realized in that one moment something was terribly wrong. “I apologize,” she spoke, sounding formal. “You have me at a disadvantage.” Her hand rose in greeting. “I’m Alexandra Robbins…and you are?” I stared at her hand and then her beautiful face. The woman I had loved passionately—desperately—and still loved to this day. My former fiancée…who was looking at me with no recognition. As if I were a stranger to her. And then it hit me as I took in the emptiness in her eyes. I was. I’d spent so much time trying to find my way back to her, only to have her not remember me. One thing was for sure—I would spend my last breath trying to remind her who I was, who we were, and who we would eventually be again. All I needed was the chance to show her. 3.5 Heart Review by Ashley I wasn't sure what was happening after reading the first few pages of The Image of You. But I knew I wanted to find out...and holy heartstrings Melanie Moreland got me right feels with this one.
From the very first time Ally and Adam met, there was just something there. Even when Ally tried to keep him away 'for his own good', he wouldn't be deterred. He knew what his heart was saying and he listened. And the way he tried to get her to see himself through his eyes; her strength, beauty and heart, melted mine. But when time and life and some terrible scheming got together, it was all Adam could do to hold onto the pieces. Man, my chest hurt reading his pain as he did his darnedest to get his Ally back. While I did find the verbiage repetitive in some places, I still couldn't get enough of this timeless love story. Ally and Adam's second chance romance (if you can really call it that) was tender and sweet and just the right amount of twisted to keep me hanging on every word.
