I despise Erik Winter. He’s arrogant and cruel—a man I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy—and by some twisted turn of fate, he’s my new Olympic gymnastics coach. I’ve had to contend with gruff coaches in the past, but Erik is far worse. His stern demeanor complements a body built for intimidation, and his reprimands come from a mouth so cunning, I know it could strip me of my defenses--if I let it. Though each of us would love to be rid of the other forever, we are bound to each other by need and necessity. I’m his rising star, his best shot at proving himself to his critics. And without a coach, I have zero chance of winning gold in Rio. The easiest way forward would be to wave a white flag and make peace with the man I’ll be sharing close quarters with for the foreseeable future, but he is intent on war. Fine. By. Me. If he pushes me, I’ll push back harder. If he wants to test me, to play with my head, I’ll show him just how many boundaries I’m willing to cross. Because I know it’s not a choice between winning or warring—not if you can have them both. At the end of it all, I plan on leaving Rio with gold around my neck and his icy heart in the palm of my hand. 5 Star Review by Ashley If there is one thing I love it is a good sports romance and R.S. Grey nailed it with this one. The Summer Games: Out of Bounds is the epitome of "can not put down". Think...tired but trying to stay awake to read more, kindle falling out of my hands and hitting me in the head- didn't want to stop reading! I was completely addicted and wrapped up in Brie and Erik's tumultuous journey that I didn't want it to end. I loved the competitive aspect of the book that translated over into how driven and stubborn both Brie and Erik were. I adored Brie. Yes she carried the weight of the world on her shoulders but she never once backed down or took for granted all that she had. And Erik saw it and because of that, and her skill she had his respect. His heart, that took a bit more work. Or should I say fighting. Erik was broody and demanding but also recognized a lot of himself in her. Even when it went against what they both wanted, he put her needs before his own and that showed just how much she meant to him. Behind his rough and tough exterior was a heart that had been hurt and not quite healed. I loved the banter and how they both channeled their pain into passion. For one it was the desire to be worth it. For the other it was being their own person. But what neither could deny, as much as they tried, was the fiery passion that burned between them. When I say this book was hot, it was smoldering! But it wasn't all drama and intensity. There were some really funny and light moments courtesy of Brie's fellow Team USA gymnasts. You could feel the comradery and friendship between the girls even when they were competing against each other. I loved how much Brie grew as an athlete and as a person. She really came into her own and it wasn't all because of the work on the mats in Rio. Nope, it was mostly Erik and how he broke through her walls and got her to trust herself. If you're looking for a book that is sexy, funny, sweet and charming but still strikes an emotional chord then you have got to pick this one up. I can't tell you the last time I devoured a book like I did with The Summer Games: Out of Bounds. And that ending, just yes! It was so wonderfully Brie and Erik and the culmination of a lot of hard work. Fingers crossed to see them somewhere down the line because they are my new #1 couple for R.S. Grey! ** Buy on AMAZON ** About the AuthorI am a lover of books, chocolate, reality TV, black labs, and cold weather. Seriously, if I had it my way, I would be curled up on the couch with all of those things... everyday. I live in Texas where I spend my free time writing and reading. My favorite authors include Mindy Kaling & Jonathan Safran Foer. I'm a comedy geek and love all things "funny". Women like Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and Mindy Kaling are definitely the biggest inspirations for my writing, though I think my work tends to skew a bit smuttier than theirs.
