They say there's a fine line between love and hate.

There is.

I married a douchebag.

I didn't know it at the time.

He came in like a handsome stranger and blew me off my feet.

I fell madly in love, like the naive girl I am.

Then he left me high and dry.

Turns out, I was nothing more than a business plan for billionaire playboy, Marcus Tandem.

He needed to be married in order to obtain his grandfathers business, and I was the poor victim in his path.

I believed in what we had, until the truth reared its ugly head.

I never meant anything to Marcus. Not a damned thing.

With my world spinning on its axis, the girl I once was has long since died.

Instead he left me as this empty, emotionless shell.

I may have made a vow before God to love and cherish him ‘Til Death do we part, but it’s time for me to give back to Marcus, exactly what he gave me.

He has to pay.

And pay he will.

This is part of a two book series and it will contain a HEA – Readers over 18+

WOW!  That's all I can say after reading this amazing story by Bella Jewel.  This lady knows how to write some smoking hot stories, that leave you emotionally drained - I just LOVE her.

This is the story of Marcus and Katia, who we first meet in Anguish (Jokers Wrath #3).

We meet these characters as Marcus' father passes away and he becomes aware of the terms of his father's will.  In order for Marcus to take over the family business, and to keep it out of his father's untrustworthy friend - Marcus needs to take a wife.   He needs to stay married for at least a 2 year period and in this time he and his wife must live together.  A notorious philanderer, Marcus cannot believe what he must "sacrifice" in order to keep his role as the head of the company.  However, the business is his life, and he will do anything to maintain his position - even if that means get married.

A chance encounter at a bar with a spitfire blonde named Katia, seems like the answer to all of Marcus' prayers.  A beautiful siren who he just cannot seem to get enough of, Marcus quickly begins wooing her in order to fulfil the terms of the will.

When Katia falls in love, she falls hard - however, Marcus seems to remain the hard, stoic and unmovable person he has always been.

I cannot say how much I loved reading this book - it was a quick read and I devoured it in one sitting.  I loved that even though it wasn't a lengthy novel, the characters were properly developed and it was so easy to absolutely fall in love (and maybe even hate) with them.

Katia is a character that you instantly fall in love with - she is good to her core, and completely smitten with her jackass of a husband.  She is strong but at the same time soft in all the right ways.  She loves her husband and is constantly showing him how she feels about him.  Sometimes, it is heart breaking to read how she loves him to utter distraction and then hear his response to her.

"I missed you," I whisper.  "And that's all you have to say?"  He studies my face just as the door opens.  He leans forward, curls his fingers around my chin and kisses me quickly.  Then he's gone.  Ouch" - 'Til Death ('Til Death #1), Bella Jewel

"Good night, Marcus," I whisper, smiling happily.  "I love you."  He's silent, like he always is when I say this.  And he responds with the same things he's responded with from the start.  He's never said it back.  I don't think he knows how, so for now, I don't push it.  "I know you do Katia."  - 'Til Death ('Til Death #1), Bella Jewel

It literally breaks your heart to read the words that Bella Jewel puts on the page sometimes.

On the other side, we have Marcus.  He is a business man ruled by his head and not by his heart.  Marcus is the epitome of a hardened man.  He doesn't want love, he doesn't want a woman - certainly not a wife.  All he wants is a willing bed mate for the night.  Bella Jewel writes him so brilliantly - we see the inner workings of his mind, and it is hard not to hate him.  He feels nothing, and almost seems incapable of it, actually.

This book is written in dual perspective so we are able to know what each of the characters thinks and feels.  It is also very interestingly written in that it flips between the past and the present.  This would usually irritate me as it can sometimes be difficult to follow this kind of story, however, Bella Jewel makes it flow seamlessly.

I am giving this book 4.5 stars - I cannot wait to read the conclusion to Marcus and Katia's story.  Bella Jewel - this book was amazing!
