But dark memories are triggered by her past and followed by a hidden threat that neither anticipated. 3 Heart Review by Ashley When I saw the plot for Twisted Secrets I knew I had to make it my first read from Amy McKinley because it has all of my favorite things. Navy SEAL + Hawai'i + Suspense = Yes, please and thank you! That being said, there were some contradictions that detracted a bit from the overall telling of the story. I enjoyed the way the suspense steadily mounted as the book progressed. And in the midst of fear and murder, was this budding relationship between two people who had been more than unlucky in love. There was no denying the attraction between Xander and Riley. It was instantaneous. As their feelings for one another grew, so did the danger. I will say that Amy McKinley had me going right until the end with who was the culprit behind all the death and destruction. My heart was racing as those intense moments played out. While Riley and Xander's journey came to a happy close, there are still loads of unanswered questions surrounding some things that went down in Twisted Secrets and I'm looking forward to seeing where the series goes next.
