![]() Nate: It’s nearly impossible to be surrounded by love but not understand it. My parents, my sister, and just about everyone around us has no trouble accepting that love. To give your trust to someone else and believe they would die before hurting you. I’ve witnessed it—I’ve seen the power of it—but I’ve also seen the pain. Because for me, I’ve only loved someone I could never have, and my biggest fear is that by giving her my love, all I would do is ruin her. I should have tried harder, but I’m not sure I can because I only feel complete when I’m with her. Emberlyn: The only time I feel like I belong is when he’s near. His infectious smile warms me straight to my bones. Any insecurities I have vanish with just a wink from him. A sliver of his attention makes me feel invincible. But all it took was one drunken night of truths for me to lose everything I had begun to crave. Now, I’m not sure how to move on because I only feel complete when I’m with him. He said I was too young. I said he was perfect. He said our families wouldn’t understand. I said we could weather any storm. He said he would ruin me. And he was right. 5 Star Review by Ashley It's official- Harper Sloan can do no wrong (in case you didn't know that already). How she continually comes up with her story lines and the depth with which she makes me feel with and for her characters never ceases to amaze me. It shouldn't at this point but everything she writes is magic. I was pulled in from the soul crushing opening and didn't put When I'm With You down until I finished the very last page- and still wanted more and more. Nate- swoon! This guy stole the show. I have really enjoyed watching him grow up. First in the Corps Security series and then through the Hope Town books. His transition from boy to man, all man had been fun to witness. It could've been his dance moves, him standing up for what he believes in or his dominant side in the bedroom there was just something about him that made me melt. He is so much like his father when it comes to protecting what and who he loves no matter the cost, even his own happiness. Too bad someone else got caught in the crossfire. And it was none other than Ember Locke. That's right- Locke and papa Maddox was having none of it. I adored Ember. Her sweetness. Her fragile heart. Her artistry and how she expressed herself through it. Her ability to forgive. Her unwavering love. She is the complete package and I let out an audible "whoop" when Nate finally realized it. I loved how he owned up to his mistakes and did everything he could to make up for them. He proved through his actions and words how invested he was in building their future. And when that future is threatened, alpha Nate came out in full force. It didn't hurt that he had the rest of the CS guys there to back him up. The whole gang comes out to play in this one- everyone from Izzy to Cohen, even the Beast himself, Cage shows up in the pages. Of course, it wouldn't be a Harper Sloan book without a Sway appearance! That man and his antics had me giggling like a school girl. When I'm With You melted my heart and panties in equal measure. There was heat, lots of heat but there was also heart. So much love between Ember and Nate that I felt it in my bones. I absolutely can not wait for the next book in this series- I'll be waiting, counting down the days, twiddling my thumbs....
