![]() Love is somewhere near the bottom of Lily Thomas’ list of life goals, right next to competitive eating and underwater cave diving. She’s spent six years pirouetting and pliéing her way up the ranks of the New York Ballet with her eye on the prize and love in the back seat. But now that Blane Baker -- Lily’s long time crush -- is finally single, she’ll throw her rules out the window without thinking twice. Reality with Blane isn’t as epic as the fantasy she imagined, and the truth sends her spinning straight into the arms of the man she never knew she’d always wanted. West Williams has been friends with Lily since the day she moved into their building and he saved her armoire from a swift, sudden death by staircase. Their friendship has always been easy, the boundaries clearly defined. With neither of them willing to risk their relationship, they’ve drifted happily through the years as companions, never considering more. That is, until they do. And that realization changes everything. Review by Ashley I'm won't lie- I didn't know much about this book when I went in to read it. All I knew was that it was a friends to lovers story and my fellow book lovers were raving about it. I had never read anything from Staci Hart before and that made me a bit more nervous going in. Well, I had no need to worry. With a Twist really caught me by surprise, I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did. The writing was superb. I enjoyed that it was written the way that the characters spoke to each other. Their tone and personality really shone through with the wording. It made it so easy to connect and relate to Lily and West. I adore Lily. She is a fighter and fearless in her pursuit of what makes her happy; dance and her friends. And no one livens or lights up her life like her best friend West. I liked that he was just a normal guy. He wasn't a bad boy or a billionaire- he was doing his thing trying to make progress in his career. However when reality slaps West in the face one night, he isn't quite sure what to do. I love that he enlisted the help of the rest of the crew (more on them later) and that they were brutally honest with him. But when things go from bad to worse between Lily and who she thought was her dream guy, Blane, West has to step in and do something. Things really spiral from there. Lily has her coming into the light moment and pulls a big, grand gesture. Oh man- I loved what she did- it was so perfectly suited for her and West. With a Twist was a great start to what is sure to be a fun new series. The whole cast of characters was really well developed. Everyone in the crew- from Cooper, Tricky, Maggie and Rose played an important role in the shaping of the story. They brought humor and lightness to the drama surrounding their friends- even as they were dealing with their own issues. Oh and that ending was pure joy. Things can only go up from here. About Staci Hart ![]() Staci has been a lot of things up to this point in her life: a graphic designer, an entrepreneur, a seamstress, a clothing and handbag designer, a waitress. Can't forget that. She's also been a mom, with three little girls who are sure to grow up to break a number of hearts. She's been a wife, even though she's certainly not the cleanest, or the best cook. She's also super, duper fun at a party, especially if she's been drinking whiskey. Her favorite word starts with f and ends with k. From roots in Houston, to a seven year stint in Southern California, Staci and her family ended up settling somewhere in between and equally north, in Denver. They are new enough that snow is still magical. When she's not writing, she's sleeping, cleaning, or designing graphics.
